After 3 months.
Conceptually, Homecoming works. On its surface the narrative is interesting and adds a lot of depth to the lore of the town. The misfire was in its execution i.e aping way too much of its visual cues from the feature film and themes from Silent Hill 2. The developers treated the game as a series of bullet points and checklists of what a Silent Hill game is supposed to be: Cult? Check. Otherworld? Check. Pyramid Head? Check. Trauma? Check. Sexy Nurses? Check. It felt forced instead of genuine ...
#1 paints the picture that the demand is pretty high, unlike the Xbox sales which are in the toilet. Sony just has the supply to meet the demand. This isn't like when the PS5 launched, where the world was on fire, supply chains were constricted, and components were hard to come by. Also, if there was no demand then the less costly PS5 options would be above it on the charts. But since there is a greater demand for the Pro, it's at #1. Once again, highlighting that keyboard warriors a...
Once again proving the massive disconnect between the broader market and online chatter.
i just have to point this out: xbox sales in europe down 58%?! holy shit...
It sucks that there are thousands of talented employees who will no doubt bear the brunt of upper management's mishandling of the company. In an ideal world, every one on top who makes the most money and makes all the bad decisions should be ousted, leaving the talented, hard-working staff behind. But that's not going to happen. So if it takes the entire company to fail to teach these out of touch C-suite level employees a lesson, then so be it.
It's not that deep. Devs are avoiding the platform because consumers are avoiding the platform.
We really need a full-blown Dino Crisis remake.
And now it's at 35K and #9 on the best sellers list.
I think over time, this endeavor will be worth the investment. Part 3 will release, along with the inevitable bundling of all three games on other consoles. I do think it's a mistake to not offer DLC this time around like with Intergrade, that would have been a nice additional revenue stream for SE.
not to mention the cost to develop first party games which also end up on the service. it's no surprise why MS is pursuing a multiplatform strategy, it needs sales from other consoles to subsidize Game Pass.
Here is what the PS4 got during its first four years in terms of 1st/2nd Party Output:
Knack
Killzone Shadowfall
Diveclub
Inamous Second Son
Bloodborne
Until Dawn
Horizon: Zero Dawn
The Order 1886
Ratchet & Clank
Gravity Rush 2
Knack 2
The Last Guardian
Shadow of the Beast
Shadow of the Colossus
Compare that to the likes of Destruction ...
It's not only returning players; the game has also shot up among the top 20 best selling games on Steam.
Seems like an odd pivot if you ask me. Xbox always touted itself as the powerful, most cutting edge piece of tech on the console market. A handheld would mean a serious scaling back on the graphical fidelity. Unless they want to make a portable console on par with a PS6, which sounds extremely cost-prohibitive.
I think people need to understand that this is a premium console. It's targeting a very specific audience, not unlike a controller that costs upwards of $250. People are approaching this as if it's the base level, and the only option Sony is offering. That's why I find a lot of the criticism to be a tad disingenuous. This isn't for mass market consumption. It's simply a higher end model for the enthusiasts. Cheaper options continue to exist. I for one am really happy with ...
I hope they take a similar approach to the Portal and not manufacture too many Pros out the gate to really see if the demand is there for a $700 premium home console. One thing I don't see being mentioned is that there is a healthy amount of PS4 owners who have yet to make the leap into current gen. This also might be an opportunity for Sony to capture that audience.
This really sounds like old school PlayStation and I'm here for it.
Bring back Shawn Layden. He is the hero Sony needs now.
Another one.
says who? this didn't exactly have a AAA budget.
