"Ken Kutaragi, 56, retired as Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.’s chairman and group chief executive, the gaming unit said Tuesday. The unit is now headed by Kazuo Hirai, SCE’s former president and chief operating officer.

Kutaragi had already been relieved of day-to-day responsibilities as president last year but stayed on as chief executive and chairman. In April, he announced his intention to retire from those positions this month.

If it breaks on me more than once. This is what you, the consumers, should be doing. Instead you are satisfied with getting the same hardware with the same probability of dieing. No wonder MS is denying it. They and their consumers are content with getting replacements. Yes, I am a 360 owner but there is a threshold here people.

They are going to milk Gears of War for what its worth. Another map pack might be possible. I think the second one sold well. The game is still being refined (glitches) and there are tons of people playing this game on Live. I would prefer that they take their time on the next one. Kuddos to Epic for quickly shooting this rumor down. It'll save N4G another 3 to 4 Gears of War 2 rumor articles.

What kind of clause is this? If Immersion owns the technology, why would it pay Microsoft $$$ if Immersion ever reaches an agreement with Sony? How much of a stake does Microsoft have with Immersion?

So is this how the story goes. Microsoft and Sony steals Immersion technology. Immersion sues. Microsoft settles + pay out to an amount that additionaly buys a stake in Immersion. Immersion and Sony settle, and Microsoft sues Immersion for money owed. They, Microsoft, are de...

The sad part is that I knew the Wii would be a hit, but not on potential, just hype. I will wait on this one until the games justify the purchase. The controls set the industry 2 years forward while the graphics set it back 5.

Lesson learned ... Never underestimate the power of budget gaming.

opinions = negative bubbles
psfanboy = negative bubbles
xbot = negative bubbles
one bubble = one bubble bastard

I guess its the way it works around here. I went 5 to 3 bubbles in 2 days just for giving my opinion on the Wii. There is no winning.

its 30 fps. Its not 60 fps. Sony you silly bunch of liars. I want you to give me a bland game playing at 60 fps than something worthwhile at 30 fps. 1080P is not worth it Sony. Please, don't give me high resolution.

There is more than 1 xbox guy in this thread. Look me up, sajj316 gamertag. I'll be happy to snipe your head off at Gears ;). Would you be willing to eat your words if your 360 ends up bricked? Let's not be totally ignorant here. There is a problem. It has nothing to do with fanboyism. I'm sure if the PS3 had these same problem, it would be just as negative, if not more. I have a fear that my box will die on me every time I boot it up. This is not the feeling that MS would want their...

I think a good chunk of the 3RR (Three Red Ring) problems could have been caused by the NYKO Intercooler. I've experienced the 3RR problem but my 360 didn't die. It just locked up with 3RR. I removed the Intercooler and I didn't have a problem ever since. Regarding scratching disks, yes I think in certain situations the disk ended up being scratched. On most ocassions I think users moved the 360 from vertical to horizontal (or vice versa) while the disk was in the drive. Its safer to tu...

You can still sell without the hype. You can hype without the sales. The hype still exists. That is what is driving the sales. Once the hype dies down, it will still sell because of the Nintendo (yes I said first party) games that are coming out on the Nintendo (yes I said the machine makers name) Wii. I believe the Nintendo Wii will sell like the DS very early on but fizzle when prices come down for the 360 and PS3. This is no handleheld market.

with the article but I also think the Wii is only a 4 year investment. The intent is to get a quick fix. Its profiting from day one but I don't believe it has the long term sustainability. I see Nintendo's business model being to push out a console every 4 years and be far removed from the 7 to 10 year cycles that their competitors are overing. Prepare for the Wii 2 because it is coming. It only makes sense.

The only problem I have with the Wii is that it is once again cat...

So how many games on the 360 run at 60fps? How many games on the Wii run at 60 fps? Like many logical people here said on the post, it doesn't matter.

I'd rather play a good game at 30 fps than a crappy one at 60 fps. If its not the fps, its the textures. If its not the textures, its the aliasing. It can go on and on and on and on and on and on again.

Will a game ever break the 60fps mark? Frankly, who cares. If it does then great. Hope your eyes can see ...

I'll be happy to enlighten you about this industry. considering you just signed up to N4G ... calling me a jackazz isn't the best way to start. Do that again and I will wii on your face.

When you progress with hardware it must not take tomorrow into consideration. It must take the day after tomorrow. The word future-proof has been tossed around quite a bit. We won't really understand it for a couple more years. GFX is just one of the factors of a successfull console. Connectivity, programability, playability, and ingenuity are some of the others. Where the Wii has succeeded in ingenuity, it has also failed in ingenuity. Do you really think the Wii is worth 250? What...

2 years from now you will be thanking me for saying what I just said. Hopefully you'll have listened and invested in either or both the PS3 and 360. A controller alone should not push this industry forward. It has to be the total package.

Look at the types of games that Nintendo makes. Do you think they require a Cell Processor? Do you think they require the bells and whistles of a PS3 or 360. I don't know if I want to play as a realistic plumber. I think a realistic Pokemon would just scare kids off. They've built a system that is catered to first party needs. This is why they will fail long term. Once the hysteria is over ... people will come down to earth over this "high"

the SNES and Genesis comparisons. Absolutely pointless since they both delivered in their respective ways. So what if the trees are bigger, so what if don't get to see the bricks on the buildings. Do these aesthetic differences change the gameplay? I think the only argument with these comparisons are that MLB2K on the PS3 has a horrible framerate and this affects the overall experience.

Screenshots? We used screenshots back in the 90s because videos of gameplay were not...
