it is possible to add extra modes through DC (downloadable content) like Sony is doing for Resistence (new multiplayer modes). Def the best racer that PS3 has to offer and it makes me psyched knowing that next gen Wipeout is using this engine. I think this release of Motostorm establishes the base for future releases.

By the way ... I can say this because I have the 360 + HD DVD player and went nutty one day and bought the 60GB PS3. If people are going to knock PS3 for having Blu Ray and then do a price comparison ... please add the HD DVD player into your equation. Even with this announcement, there have been no other details given on how Sony has/will improve their online gaming tools. Heck with the tools ... they haven't given us a idea of what their vision is for online gaming. Its def nice to have this community ... but it has to be centered around 'games'. I am thrilled at this announcement and although all the specifics haven't been given ... there are some assumptions we can make based on questions we (the gamers) have had since Sony introduced the Playstation Network.
1. Will Sony use univeral ids for online games ala Xbox Live (gamer tags)? I don't see it any other way! I'm assuming yes with 'Home' since it seems illogical to have a 'Home' login, PS Network login, and logins for individual games.

exclusive means that I can't play this ANYWHERE else. Why then heck call it exclusive? Remember that the PC Market competes with the consoles. If its on PC/360 or PC/PS3 ... I don't consider it an exclusive. Motostorm is an exclusive ... Viva Pinata is an exclusive.
I believe 'they' were referring to the games and not franchises. No argument on franchises here. They are indeed quality franchises (everything except Mass Effect as this is new IP). Fable was great ... except for the quick ending :( The problem is that a quality franchise does not necessary mean a quality game. Heck, I've been waiting for a game that justifies the quality franchise called 'Transformers' :)
Also being a 360 owner, I'm also pretty psyched about the games coming out in 07.
This is just great for gaming in general. Great for competition as this only helps put pressure on Sony to deliver on their end.

I can't believe I'm replying to someone who is blatantly biased ... but I do agree (to some extent) that it is the best choice for gaming today. If Microsoft keeps this momentum, they will be the best choice in gaming tomorrow.

I know this is quite a stretch but imagine a machine who's potential is tapped within 3 years of existence? Not so great for a seven to ten year investment now is it? Gears of War was in my opinion, the first game to showcase the 360 and it took about a year after launch to get this type of title.

Madden Raiders ... thanks for the article. Def a good stat based article into the industry and not biased crap some contributors put out. There is a psychological effect that this type of article has on proponents of Microsoft and Nintendo (I hate the word fanboy). I call it the 'man-stick effect'. Some people will interpret this article as Sony having a bigger 'man-stick' than Nintendo and Microsoft combined. Because of that, automatically these proponents will in turn say ... well but ...
Just some thoughts ..
1. The title of the article is 'PS3 online work in progress. The person who posted this article writes 'Yahoo.com Slams PSN Network'. Slam is pretty harsh isn't it.
2. Since when did Nintendo Wii start online gaming?
3. Free versus Paid Subscription. Yes, Sony is bleeding dollars bills or yen right now but you can't make lemonade without squeezing lemons.

Solidifies the PS2 as one of the most successfull (if not most successfull - which is arguable) consoles launched. The PS2 is a cash cow now and its later stage success is critical to offset losses by the PS3. I'll go off on a limb and say that Sony isn't jumping to do any PS3 price drops because of this offsetting profit by the PS2. They obviously have other divisions to offset costs ... but having your good ole PS2 helping things ... doesn't hurt.
