One mistake you made; in 120fps PS5 looks indeed better, but XSX kept the higher framerates because PS5 uses v-sync instead of VRR, and the fact that XSX looked less detailed. But I agree that when PS5 will support VRR, it will probably beat XSX in 120fps mode.
Yeah, have the same feeling, either PC or console. On PC you have the best graphics, if you have a rig that has enough muscle. Settings can be tweaked the most in order to get things running the way you like and since Cyberpunk is 1st person, nothing beats mouse+keyb. On the other hand, I think console will have the best optimized version, play on a big fat TV, but no nextgen graphics until the patch somewhere in 2021. I have a ryzen 5 with RTX 2060, no PS5 or XSX at the moment.
@Nexus; I don't mean rushed as in half a year or a year, but why would you lauch a console missing a key feature like tempest for you TV speakers? Tempest was one of the next gen key features when Cerny anounced the PS5 in his tech video. . Also, PS5 claims 8K support, it's right there one the box yet it doesn't support it for now. Digital Foundry noticed this. Not a dealbreaker tho, who has an 8K monitor these days. Lacking support for External SSD's at the moment... You know...
I believe Sony rushed the launch to get in the lauchwindow from XSX. Why I think that? No Tempest audio for TV speakers, just on headphones. No external HDD support yet, no VRR. But since XSX doesn’t really have an exclusive launchtitel and Sony does, Sony could launch the console missing some features but having the games to compete against the XSX launch and basicly take the lead from the start. Just my thoughts on this tho.
Since I couldn’t get my hands on a PS5, patience is all I have left, lol. But VRR and 1440p are features I want because I play on a 1440p monitor which supports Freesync and G-sync, although 1440p will not be an issue it seems as my monitor downgrades on it’s own from a 4k signal.
DF says otherwise; they tested AC on a LG CX which supports VRR and the tearing was way better because PS5 doesn’t support VRR (yet...). Without VRR, I agree with you tho (and DF). PS5 wins handsdown on 60Hz displays.
@Elda: I know games would get more expensive eventually, like everything else, completely agree. But the jump is rather big for a lot of people all of a sudden.
Yeah, but look at the games that came out since 2005; Assassins Creed, Call Of Duty, Far Cry, Halo, Gears Of War, ... even God Of War is coming with a 5th game. That doesn’t mean the games are bad tho. But e.g. Ubisoft doens’t spend much on a new game engine or new IP’s, so no cost there. Same with Activision and their Call Of Duty games, the engine is how old now already? Fifa every year with little difference from the previous version,.... you get my point. Give folks real new quality games...
Totally agree! For full price I want a full game, no semi game with seasonpacks and what not...
I'm gonna miss those on my PS4, lol. And the stabilty ones.
Could very well be your HDMI cable, they all look alike, but not all of them can handle a 4k/120hz signal. As for your TV, if it’s HDMI port isn’t 2.1, you won’t get 4k/120hz, just 4k/60hz, even tho your C8 supports 120hz. I believe the new LG CX has hdmi 2.1 ouput. I have a C7, no 4k/120 for me...
Would be great if true
@Nerdmaster: I can use the 4K option and get a downscale to 1440p. It was 1080p when I hooked it up. Looked kinda blurry indeed, but I was able to change it, looks way better. I have an LG 27GN850. Maybe your HDMI cable isn’t compatible with 4k signal?
This sucks, was planning on hooking this up on my monitor. I guess it will downscale 4K resolution to 1440p like it does with my PS4?
Depends on the game imo. A creepy horror game doesn’t need 120fps for example, ray tracing can add to the atmosphere. FPS, racegames and alike are better with higher framerates indeed.
@Hellcat; From your list only 2 titels are PS5 only, one of them, Demon Souls is a remaster even (a gorgeous looking one tho) but for 80 bucks?? All the others can be played on PS4 as well. So yeah, launch is weak. Same with XBSX, doesn't have any exclusives whatsoever.
I don’t care for Metacritic scores tbh, I just watch a few reviews on youtube from people I trust. If they all point out the same positives and negatives in a certain game, I’m pretty sure they are valid. It remains up to me however to decide if a game is worthy a purchase considering the pro’s and con’s.
The starting hardware of the PS5 is better than the PS4 at the time and there are more innovations compared to the PS4 as well so more gamers are excited to get their hands on a PS5 imo.
Yeah, me too.
I bet they come up with some sort of gamepass as well. Sony isn’t blind for the succes on gamepass on Xbox. They probably alter the formula somewhat to have something better than MS, but it will be the same at it’s core.
