@Apocalypse; there’s a big difference between multicore (cell) and multiprocessor ( like today). Multicore is way more difficult to program for than a multiprocessor system. So you can’t really compare that way.
The x360 was a multi processor system; multiplatform games were easier to develop on xbox 360, so they got an edge in performance. The PS3 exclusives however showed what the cell was capable of, which was impressive to say the least, but it was hell to program for.
Tempest audio ain’t available for tv’s at launch. Strange, I know, but true tho.
Yeah, but with GTA V we got 1st person view as we didn't get that in the original.
It matters for sales of a console but in the end gamers lose, unless you buy all consoles.
For me: Bloodborn, Witcher 3, Red Dead 2 and Detroit Become Human. That’s 4 games, I know, but those are the games I loved the most this gen.
@NeoGamer; I agree. I'm excited for the hardware, no doubt, but it lacks games that would want me to invest on next gen from day1. Cyberpunk coming in november can be played on current gen and next gen, but will only get a nextgen patch in 2021.
Hakuoro, I,m not a fan of GAAS, trust me, I’m just stating that, in the end Sony and Microsoft are doing business. If one company makes loads of profit based on a certain formula, the other company will copy. It doesn’t matter how something got to exist or whatever. Companies make decisions for their own profits and how they make these profits is their own vision. So far, Sony got it right ( except with PS3) they try to stay true to the core, but times change, people change, business changes....
Remember when playing online on PS was totally free? PS fans did nothing but laugh because on Xbox you needed a subscription. See how that turned around? If gamepass on Xbox turns out to be a big succes, Sony will try to do the same, with some adjustments to the formula I guess. That’s just how business is done and like it or not, Sony will have his own gamepass.
Targeting casual player who only play a few games in a year? One who hasn’t got a 4K tv? But can still play the latest games... just a thought. When sales and pre orders come in, it will be clear pretty fast if MS has gambled right or wrong.
I have seen worse, back in the 80’s, lol.
Yeah, not loving it as much either, would be cooler if they kept the SeriesX design and made it smaller.
Dunno, remains to be seen when sales kick in. Maybe MS is trying to dip in a pool of gamers that gets overlooked so far. I have friends in my playlist that over the year played 2 games. Don’t think they gonna cough up 500€/$ for a SeriesX. They might however pay 300€/$ for an XB one upgrade and still have the “latest” hardware. Just a thought tho.
Doesn’t this make sense since the Xbox S has less power than Xbox X?
@ Morganfell: so what you’re saying is buying a PS4 pro when having a PS4 was a waste of my money at the time, since, as you put it, developers don’t push the envelop on the better hardware anyway?
@ Army_Of_Darkness: I was talking about PS4 and the PS4 pro, not the PS5. With the PS4 and the pro you have 2 console versions in the same generation, the release window is irrelevant. Developers can still bring out 2 versions of the game pretty easily on console compared to the hassle a PC brings on that area, but that always has been the case for PC developers. So developing 2 versions on the same architecture shoulnd’t be a problem.
Like a standard PS4 holds back a PS4 pro? Same thing if you ask me...
Funny, we can now play PC games with just a graphics card... 🤔
Viva pinata was kinda fun imo.
Learn how to read! The title clearly states Christmas Season in Japan! And they love Nintendo, so the statement is plausible; it's cheaper, has more games (compared with the PS5 launchgames). Worldwide will be something else indeed.
If Cyberpunk (nextgen version) would be released at the same time of XsX release, that would be great! Perhaps a bundle in the making? Wouldn’t care for Halo as much then to be honest.
Personally, I think 1440p (QuadHD) is the sweetspot visual/performance wise when playing on a monitor, but hey, If your setup can run 4k60, enjoy! ;-)
