A lot of people seem to not understand what that means. "Production shipments" refer to product that is produced in the factory and shipped to company warehouses. "Recorded sales" refers to sales of said product to distributers and retail chains.

Hey Kithara12, I know where you are coming from. Microsoft does seem to focus a lot on the American markets, at least the North American markets like Canada, US, and Mexico. But I am not so sure about other American areas like Central and South America. It seems Sony is doing very well in many countries in South America. I like both consoles so I am happy to see them doing well.

The Lazy One, DMason and mint royale know what they are talking about. Anybody disagreeing with them is simply ignorant. All 3 console makers report the number of consoles sold to retail. They do not have the means or motive to uncover how many have been sold to individual customers.
I would probably guess you and I have completely opposite taste in games. Then again, I like a huge diversity of different types of games, from games like Ico to shooters to action games. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are masterpieces in my opinion. True examples of games as art.

These guys are right, though. It wasn't just a few people saying that. It was pervasive. I can't tell you how many times I saw people saying that Halo Reach wouldn't help move any consoles.
Uncharted 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and I do think it is currently the best looking game on consoles, but you have to be seriously delusional if you think it looks 10 times better than Gears of War 3. I'm not even sure if it looks better at all.
Gears of War 3 looks phenomenal and everything I have seen leads me to believe that it is somewhere in the same ballpark as Uncharted 2. We'll just have to wait and see. It might even look better than Uncha...
Halo Reach is a great game. You're just jumping on the hate bandwagon.
The 360 has some great games, but so do other consoles. I don't know why everybody tries to make everything so antagonistic.

I love the God of War games and this one looks really great. The PSP is such an underrated device.

This is one damn review score. Castlevania Lords of Shadow received several 7s and it turned out to be one of my favorite games of the year, easily a 9+ to me.
While I agree with your basic point, I still find that Game Informer is most consistently in line with my opinions of games.
I think the Uncharted games have already achieved their rightful place among masterpieces like Ico and SOTC.
