If you are expecting the PS3 version to look better I suspect you might be disappointed.
Devs say crazy stuff all the time, but when the game is actually released we find that they were just blowing smoke. Heck, even the Ghostbuster devs were bragging about what they were accomplishing on the PS3 and we all know how that turned out.
I'm just saying, don't take some isolated comment by the devs as solid proof of anything.
StanLee, you're exactly right. I expect the PC version to look more like the last trailer in terms of visuals.
The 360 version still looks amazing for consoles, but the PC version running on good hardware will blow minds.
To the two trolls at the top, why even bother? It's not like anybody is going to take you seriously. It's not like you guys are known for being level headed gamers.
Halo Reach does look incredible. It has a very different style than other shooters, but I think in its own way it is on par with any of them in the general enjoyment I get from the graphics. I love the look of it.
Naw, I'll gladly take the awesome HDR lighting over a slightly higher resolution. Halo 3 had even lower resolution and you couldn't even tell. I don't know what uscaling techniques they were using, but it worked beautifully. I compared it to full 720p games and I found it very difficult to see any difference in terms of crispness or detail.
Al Bundy, both consoles have some sub-HD games. Halo 3, Alan Wake, MGS4, Ratchet & Clank, to name a few. Sometimes they look a little soft because of it, and sometimes you can't even tell.
The other thing is, if you want to obsess over lower resolutions go to beyond 3d and check out their list of rendering resolutions. You might be surprised to see that the PS3 actually has more sub-HD games than the 360.
What's this obsession with resolution? It's funny. Halo 3 was technically sub-HD, but you know what, I couldn't even tell. I compared it directly against other full 720p games on the PS3 and it didn't look any softer or lacking in crisp detail on my HDTV.
It really depends on the techniques they use to upscale. The visual end result is what we care about, right guys?, not arbitrary raw stats.
Saying the PS3 has a stronger lineup this year is completely a matter of opinion. I personally like the 360's and PS3's lineups about equally and I know other people who genuinely like the 360's lineup better, so let's try to avoid generalizing our opinions as universally accepted facts.
I think the 360 has had a great lineup of games this year with games like Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo Reach, Crackdown 2 and Fable 3. I don'...
I know, it's kind of crazy that the 360 will be getting Halo Reach and Gears of War 3 within mere months of each other. Those are both two of the biggest games around. I can't wait for those two.
There are also so many awesome multiplatform games coming in the near future such as Deus Ex 3, Brink, Dead Space 2, Rage, Castlevania LOS, Enslaved, Crysis 2, and the list goes on. It's awesome.
You guys are right, Halo Reach looks fantastic. I can't wait to play it.
Not necessarily. If Sony doesn't show some new, exciting games and they spend a lot of time on Move then I think they could end up doing no better.
This doesn't surprise me, coming from them. They seem to be big PS3 fans over there.
Great! I love the new 360.
Tell me about it. It's sad. I swear to god, these guys care more about the 360 than the PS3. They flock into every 360 article like their life depended on it, and then they do nothing but hate, hate, hate.
Well, Dead Space supposedly had its development lead on the PS3 too, but it still ended up performing better on the 360, so I don't know what the significance of this is.
No, not nearly as good as Gears of War 3. But it still looked colorful and fun. Gears 3 just took it to a new level. I love it's new real-time lighting and shadows engine. Couple that with some of the best textures in the business, great effects and fantastic art and we've got one of the best looking games around. Anyway sorry, I'm just really excited about Gears 3. But Bulletstorm has surprised me and looks really fun.
Man that game looks really fun.
Wha? It looks better than MGS4 for sure. The textures are better, the character models look as good or maybe better, the lighting is still great and there seem to be less jaggies than I saw in the shadows of MGS4.
Yeah, the trailer was great. I was surprised to see that the graphics are better than MGS4. It's going to be awesome.
Killzone 3 looks pretty much like Killzone 2, so which game are you saying we need to wait for?
Nintendo did have the best conference in my opinion. They did great this year. Sony and Microsoft didn't do too bad either. At least not nearly as bad as some are saying. This year was largely about the introduction of motion controls for those companies.
Nintendo really did great though.
