I'll have to see it on my own tv before I decide how it compares to any other game. Besides, does it really matter? It looks gorgeous without a doubt.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Reviewers have a duty to be as objective as possible and to judge a game on its own merits, not on how it compares to some expectation they had in their heads.
A good reviewer is not really telling the world what 'he' personally thought about the game, a good reviewer should have the experience to be able to kind of predict how most people will perceive the game.
For example, I strongly prefer brunettes over b...
Yeah, and those mainstream sites just happened to score this game well below the general consensus. I don't buy it.
Right on. I don't see how Lords of Shadow looks that different from Lament of Innocence which came out well before God of War.
I love God of War, but people saying Lords of Shadow copied GOW3 are off their rockers.
I was already leaning towards getting it on the PS3 simply for the fact that the PS3 was lead platform for its development and it will be on one disc. But I guess we will have to wait until actual frame rate analysis is done to know the exact truth.
This comment was right on.
Of course you should. There are way too many great games on the PS3 to be without it.
Sorry, but I strongly disagree.
If this game had been titled something completely different and nobody said anything about it having anything to do with Castlevania I would be saying "this game feels like Castlevania brought into the current gen". There are way to many things that make it obvious that it is a Castlevania game.
So true. This game is pretty much the best looking multiplatform game that I have ever seen and he gives it a 8.5? Give me a break. The guy must be partially blind in both eyes.
I agree with both of you. This review was piss poor.
When people want to be derisive they always use the "mindless button mashing frase", but when I play games like God of War or Ninja Gaiden I am definitely not just mindlessly pressing buttons. You would die really quick doing that.
Anyway, the sites that I have found to be most trustworthy have given Lords of Shadow 9s so I have no doubt that my intuition telling me it would be a great game is correct....
I can't wait to see IGN give the next big (over)hyped game--GTA5, COD 9, etc--a really high score.
Oh well, all the sites I really trust have given this game a 9 or higher.
It's a reboot, so it's free to totally reinvent itself in my opinion. Why does it have to have any gameplay in common with old 2D side scrollers or even the 3D iterations? It sure feels like a Castlevania game (brought up to date) based on everything I have seen.
This game is getting knocked for the stupidest reasons.
Exactly. GS and GT always seem to be heavily influenced by marketing and hype. IGN is hit and miss.
I basically trust the same sites as you.
Why is it "developer competence" when it comes to all the multiplatform games, but it's not developer competence when it comes to exclusives?
I mean, we know that Sony has more studios and that several of those studios are known for their technical know-how. Which developers under Microsoft's umbrella are really focused on pushing graphics? Lionhead? Rare?
Honestly, it's easy to see that Microsoft simply doesn't have the kind of...
"The PS3 rendition of Dead Rising 2 appears to be using an entirely different approach to the rendering. V-sync is disengaged completely, as is the 30FPS frame-rate cap. What this means is screen-tear is an ever-present element of the image"
Well it turns out that 2brothers and 2 sisters blog (or whatever it was called) was right about the pervasive screen tearing in the PS3 version.
It also goes to show that some of the people claiming that the 360...
Nope, I am on my first 360 and I have had it since it came out. I love my PS3 and my 360. They both have great games.
Actually Burnout Paradise was virtually identical on the 360 and PS3.
Here is a quote from the Digital Foundry face-off:
"Put simply, this is the first truly 'next-gen' game that truly is 99.9 percent identical across both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; the first title I've looked at for these features that raises the bar technically on both formats, offering the complete, full-fat experience, nothing added, nothing taken away."
Come on, man, be serious. Little Big Planet? I love the game like crazy, but it's a 2.5D side scroller basically and the graphics are not doing anything out of the ordinary. Lots of multiplatform games and 360 exclusives have better graphics than LBP. Gears of War, Fable 2 and Halo Reach are all doing far more in terms of graphics than LBP.
No it isn't. Nobody I know that has the 360 S has had a single problem.
Where is your proof that it is unreliable. That's right, you don't have any proof. You are just spreading FUD.
Go back under your bridge.
Yeah, but there are parts of GOW3 that don't look any better than that part either.
