Generally speaking, there seems to be less humour and fun factor in games these days.
However, there are lots of other things that I look for in games in addition to goofiness. Games like Deus Ex HR and Resident Evil 4 were awesome games despite being a lot more serious than say, games like Worms Armageddon or Crash bandicoot. Different games have different strengths.
Having said that, I would really like me some old fashioned adventure games with rich charac...
Well I belong to the group of gamers that likes to discuss graphics with artistic lingo instead of relying on arguments of the amount of polygons etc. Having said that, it is precisely the art direction that is a huge letdown for me based on the video at least. I have never seen a Zelda game with so generic and uninspiring look.
I think I belong to the minority here when I say that I think the original Wii was a great console with some really good games.
However, I am baffled at the current situation of Nintendo. As far as I know, Nintendo made truckloads of money with the Wii and DS. Where has all the money gone? This game just doesn't ooze with high production values, if you ask me. Yes, it is not ready til 2014 so the artistic design may not be final, but still, this is disappointing. I was ex...
4.5/5 equals 9/10. How is that low?
I actually think that this game is the prettiest racer ever. Anyone who agrees with me?
Tangled was visually great, but of course I wish that Zelda would look even more awesome.
Miyamoto himself has stated that the Skyward Sword style was inspired by the great Paul Cézanne's works.
I myself would like to see a Zelda made in a William Turner style (Google images ->): 5421d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment
If one considers Sopranos to be example of high art amongst TV series like Pulitzer prize winner Junot Diaz does, then I don't see why GTA games couldn't be considered to have a similar status amongst games.
That doesn't mean GTA IV is as good an example of artistic vision as Sopranos is though.
Oh bugger, once again we get an article whose author completely misunderstands Ebert's argument.
I do NOT agree with Ebert, but I still think it's good to know what he really meant. Ebert's view was that games as emergent entities can not offer the characteristics of high art. He did acknowledge that artistic efforts have been made to produce the backropds for games but those backropds do not form the 'soul' of games.
I think that in order...
Not that great list.
My favourites this gen include...

These GC titles really surprised me in a positive way:
-Resident Evil 4
-Eternal Darkness
-Starfox Adventures
-Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2
-Metroid Prime
-tLoZ: Wind Waker
-Super Smash Bros Melee
Wii has some superb games like Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, but there was this magic of immersion in some GC games that wasn't as powerful with most Wii games because of the hardware limitations.
Thanks. Yeah, the aiming with wiimote can really improve the ability to control compared to analog stick control, and it also immerses the gamer deeper in the experience.
I would imagine using such a large controller would be a real strain if some games require motion controls like aiming.
I still like my concept better :) :

Agree with me if you like my concept, disagree if you dislike.
I'm a gaming veteran but only owned two handheld gaming systems in the past (excluding single game devices).
For me, there were basically two different kind of ways to play: 1) playing extended periods of time on the couch of my home or 2) playing for short periods of time in car, vacation etc.
For the first type, there really wouldn't be the need for a handheld device and I only played the games because they weren't available on consoles. I would...
Umm, so you think that using DVD tech = innovation?
As the previous commenters wrote, the streaming is most probably not the next big thing. What it is, remains to be seen.
The situation is comparable to that with the times preceding Wii's revelation. Miyamoto said there will be a cool new feature and he also said the console will enable digital downloads of retro games. Some people actually thought that the retro gaming would be Nintendo's main selling point of codename Revolution and the big thing Miyamoto promised....
I found the following speculation from the comments section of the IGN news (not by me):
"if the system really is using a "revamped" R700 technology, then the system should be pretty powerful.for reference, the best r700 card, the radeon 4890, scored 1938 in passmark. the geforce7800, which rthe PS3's processor is based off of, score just 566 on the same benchmark. so the new wii GPU should be 3-4 times better than the PS3's GPU. i think it's a wise...
Yeah, that lack of symmetry for weight would probably be the biggest reason for not doing this kind of solution. But I haven't been able to think up a satisfactory solution that would solve other issues such as the backwards compatiblity with Wii and GC assuming that only one kind of controller is needed.
The folks at Nintendo have undoubtedly come up with a controller that will blow our minds and make me feel shamed for producing such an unimaginative piece as this.
Thanks. Yeah, the mockup is actually based on the screen of Nintendo DS and the Wavebird controller of Gamecube. That made it easier to pull off, but one other reason for that source of inspiration was the rumor that Project Cafe will be backwards compatible with both Wii and Gamecube. I hope one controller would be all that is needed this time around.
If you liked my drawing and idea, feel free to give bubbles to me :)
Yeah, it has a lot to do with whether one plays the games online or with friends.
