I'm not saying that I believe this is true, but come on, you guys shouldn't judge games based on hype, which in turn is based on screenshots, videos and short hands-on impressions. I remember Rogue Leader 3 for Gamecube well. It was made by Factor 5 with long development time, had great graphics and music, but the game was utter crap. It simply had nothing interesting in it. Technically speaking it was a great game, but it was just hollow. Lair could end up being like RL3 because of the calcu...
I think GoW:CoO will be superb, but I do agree with you on your comments. These types of games would be great on a big TV when one has lots of spare time to delve into the epic world and events. For me at least, handheld games are best when they're easily accessible no matter how long the game has been unplayed and offer something to do for any length of time. A 10 minute buss trip might not be enough to complete a stage in this type of game so I hope there's a possibility to save the game at...
Have you heard of the delta t argument? It has lots of implications, but I'll concentrate on religions. The delta t argument is basically an extension of the Copernican principle and states that there's no reason to think we're living at a time that is more special than any other time. For example, if you believe christians are right in their beliefs, then the tens of billions of people that lived before judeo-christian culture would be heretics as well as the tens or hundreds of billions of ...
More than first person shooters online? Wouldn't that imply that they actually had a first person shooter online? However, I'm not sure whether developing online FPS games for Wii is a good idea, because FPS fans tend to favor 360. Red Steel sold well, but I think it had to do more with the hype and lack of good games than showing FPS viability on Wii. I think Reggie knows this too.
As far as online games go, Soldat-like game could be cool for Wii as well as some Mii-based figh...
It's #8. I agree with you on the Mass Effect, although I hold my judgement for every game until I play them. From what I've seen so far, Metroid Prime 3 hasn't shown much good design aspects besides the controls, so I'm not sure whether it should be in the list.
MS, Nintendo and Sony do not allow publishing of AO rated games, so the game has to get M rating for you or anyone else to purchase it.
The textures are cool and crisp and the lighting is nice, although there's no shadows. The architecture is a bit uninspiring though. If they are able to pull off 1-1 controls, I might get this at some point.
To LeonSKennedy4Life: Have you tried Super Paper Mario?
That hardcore casual gamer thing was a joke of course... What I was telling through that contradictory term and my games of choice is that everyone's so unique in their gaming habits that the polarization we see today is highly artificial, and therefore the term gamer is the simplest way of describing any sort of player, as the both of you already said.
From the interview: "At E3 [a gaming trade show], I was a little concerned about defining people as a hard-core gamer vs. a casual gamer. But there are hard-core gamers who play a lot of casual games. Nintendo's focus is to break down the barriers between those two groups and consider everyone just gamers." -Miyamoto
That's well said. I myself play many types of games (Starcraft, Resident Evil 4, Tetris, Minesweeper etc.), but I play them only couple of times per week...
Wii will have bright future as it appeals to casual gamers and non-gamers. The non-gamers and casual gamers will get more interested in games because of easily accessible hc games like SSBB, MP3 and SMG. Because of that, they may buy a more powerful console, but my guess is that most of them won't buy multiple consoles. That would lead to the situation of Wii becoming the next PS2 (large userbase -> quality software).
And the only thing that separates Xbox 360 from the original Xbox is graphical performance. PS3 fairs better as it has Blu-ray and Sixaxis.
The stats in Vgcharts in the past have been so near to the real deal, that it deserves to be considered newsworthy. Want to bet bubbles on the Wii passing 9 million?
To tell you the truth, I don't think Wii has games that would justify ME purchasing it, which is why I don't have it yet. These are the games I'm waiting for: Metroid Prime 3, RE Umbrella Chronicles, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Melee, De Blob and Donkey Kong. I don't see any reason why those games wouldn't have chance at receiving ciritcal acclaim.
What I don't understand, is why people keep dissing Wii software as if the 360 and PS3 had far superior games. True, they...
If you check out the official numbers (NPD etc.), you can see that they don't match with Nexgenwars, because Nexgenwars uses sold for retailers as a 360 number and sold to customers for PS3 and Wii. Somehow the site maintainer doesn't understand that MS means sold to retailers when they talk about their sales, although that's a well known fact. Also, the site is based on a counter with a script adding numbers at a pace that is set by the maintainer of the site. Nexgenwars has been off by seve...
To tplarkin7: No, Vgcharts does not fabricate numbers, they monitor numerous different sources and then update the numbers. Sure, they have been few hundred thousand units off couple of times, but Vgcharts is reliable enough for me at least.
EDIT: Estimating sales does not mean fabricating because Vgcharts uses lots of very reliable sources. Vgcharts numbers have been very close to official numbers in the past. Why do you think they're wrong now?
I really liked the Ganados and other enemies in Resident Evil 4 because of their menacing and intelligent behaviour. Have you thought about taking that concept and go all the way to the point where most of the enemies can move and work together without artificial limits? For example, if the main hero is too much of a threat in one area, the enemies that survived would draw back to a remote building with their friends for ambush. It could also be great if some of the "boss" enemies c...
I'm glad to hear the controls are near perfect according to just about all sources. However, I do feel the visuals could be better and more imaginative. I'm not a graph ho, but science fiction is about projecting a believable, distant world in front of you to awe and explore. Since Metroid truly is a scifi-game and not a war-FPS masked as one, it's all the more important.
It's clear that technically Wii can't reach PS3/360 level in graphics, but Resident Evil 4, for example, lo...
From what I've seen in the videos so far, the game hasn't impressed mee that much. The places are mostly dull grey tunnels and platforms, the enemies humanlike robots with bad animation and AI (reminds me of old scifi movies) and the whole thing seems to be about walking, opening doors and shooting... with great controls. I'm a Metroid fan, but this just doesn't feel like Metroid because it lacks the mysterious atmosphere, believable, out of this world eco- and technosystems and the feeling t...
It's funny how EA bought Ubisoft's shares when they realized Ubisoft was going to succeed with their Wii software. Lazy way of competing... Hopefully there will be more quality games in the future from both developers.
