I sure hope so. Have you seen the Augmented Reality games of 3DS? Here's a short video about the basic functionality:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

As far as gameplay mechanics go, that's quite hilarious, although not something I would necessarily play.

Since the Project Cafe's controller also has a camera, it will probably have the potential to som...

As much as I love both Star Fox and Retro Studios, I don't think combining those two great names would be a good idea. The best Star Fox games have been made by Rare and shown their unique skills.

I honestly think Retro would be best suited for some other kind of project... Kid Icarus? Or since they say this situation is a modern equivalent to Perfect Dark vs. Goldeneye 007, it could be a new Metroid project, only now with huge organic areas to explore to take full advant...

That's true in the sense that the system will be costly to manufacture, but considering how much money Nintendo has made with the Wii and DS, they now have the financial flexibility to sell the new console at loss.

That's what I've been thinking too. But we'll have to wait and see what the technology and price really are like before making the judgement. Nintendo has been pretty realistic in the past when it comes to making technology that isn't too expensive for its time.

Some people have speculated that Nintendo 3DS is actually the controller for Cafe and Cafe could stream the game video to the 3DS instead of TV. That would be convenient if the TV in the house is shared with other people who would otherwise interrupt the session. The major fault with that rumor is that 3DS doesn't have two analog sticks like the Cafe controller is rumored to have, only one, but who knows if there's this wiimote/nunchuck kind of combination with Cafe where 3DS forms a ...

My guess is that Nintendo is going to utilize the concept of augmented reality in some form (Wikipedia - augmented reality: live direct or indirect view of real-world environment's elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input).

Just how the new type of utilization will set it apart from competing systems like Kinect and PS Eye remains to be seen. Just like the IGN staff, I'm worried that the cost of the system, especially the touch screen controllers, wi...

You gotta admit Reggie is super smart with the way he chooses his words. He was actually able to introduce the 3DS as an improved version of 3D technology by comparing it to yesterday's Killzone introduction on Late Night without even mentioning Sony or PS3, and maintaining that kind of friendly appearance.

I'm excited about the 3DS but the Donkey Kong has me a bit worried. While Retro Studios is known to pull off greatly deserted and closed environments, Donkey Kong&...

Obama is the first US president in long time to take concrete steps towards reducing the amount of nuclear weapons both in the US and in the world.

I'm myself a EU citizen but from what I've read, Obama is the visionaire US needs in order to raise you from the depths where Bush dragged your country into.

Croaker wrote that plastics are vital. Oh really? Did you know that the oil & plastic industry lobby groups have pretty much bribed the politicians into not banning plastics, although they contain toxic compounds such as cancer causing molecule named bisphenol A, that is found in products such as hard plastic bottles?

The future is in cellulose products like the transparent nanocellulose.

Even if we continue on using toxic plastic products, they have to ...

Did you know that Scott Miller, the CEO of 3D realms (Duke Nukem developer), is currently also executive director of Immortality Institute? If he's going to live forever, then I see no point in rushing out a game... Decade here and there don't mean a thing to an immortalist... lol

While there certainly is lots of artwork done for many games, that does NOT mean the end products that contain art, are always art themselves.

Compare this to sports. While many hockey players have shirts that have nicely designed team icons and colour combinations and so forth, nobody in their right mind would say ice-hockey is art.

As for art design, Okami and Shadow of the Colossus are pretty darn artful in my opinion. But are they art?

For somethin...

The sequence is a prime example of how art design affects game's atmosphere.

I can say without any hesitation that Monkey Island 2 is more pleasing for my eyes than the new Tales of Monkey Island. That's quite an achievement for a game made in 1991.

Yeah, Secret of Mana was great and is still today. There are so many evergreen games out there. I had really good time with Secret of the Monkey Island 1&2 as well as with Broken Sword: The shadow of the templars.

It is obvious that games are losing their soul. I'm not saying that most games in the past have been full of soul, but the modern videogame design process is definitely more like craftsmanship than making art.

The so called hardcore games are mostly like sports these days. For example, a shooter is usually considered good by the gaming community only if it has online play with deathmatch, team matches and so forth. They are like pieces of commissioned craftsmanship: a social envi...

The Conduit is far from being the best looking game on the Wii. Sure the engine is good, but some of the creatures are like generic plastic figures, and as you said, the real letdown are the amateurish and archaic looking environments.

The Conduit really reminds me of this game: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

From the review: "Golf games just don't get any better than this". If so, then why is the score only 9/10?

To Sidar: You said that it's easy to make a game look good when it's almost grey. True, but that doesn't mean a game with irritatingly bright colours should be given compensation if a studio made it look intentionally bad. Nor does it mean that Resident Evil 4 would look bad when the colours are saturated. I've tried bumping up the saturation and it looks still great.

The reason why RE4 looks great is because the designers of the game actually understand how humans perceive colou...

To Syronicus: It's clear that Wii can do better than The Conduit. I mean, look at RE4. It's way above the Conduit level. The graphically greatest FPS of the PS2/Xbox/GCN generation was probably Black and it looked a lot better than Conduit too.*

I don't want to appear as a HVS basher. They gave it their all and that's all I can ask for. However, there are a lot better studios out there when it comes to programming knowledge and artistic talent. The reason why very few of them mak...

To RememberThe357:

I think that when judging whether brainwashing occurs or not, we shouldn't concentrate on the ends promised, but the means used. McDonalds appeals to people's subconscious wishes and instincts just like Hitler did.

Btw. the Pokerap tune from the end of the Pokemon TV show episodes was forbidden in Finland and I think mostly in other Euroepan countries too. Is it currently allowed in America? I'm talking about this:
