Contrast has been receiving middling scores, but I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I like how people only exist as shadows in the world. I also love the setting. 1920's is a cool era that rarely makes it into video games.
What a fantastic game. Even if you only play it through with just one character, you'll still get your money's worth. My game as the fighter took me about 20 hours and I enjoyed every bit of it.
So Sony is already getting stock back into stores after launch. Any word on Xbox? Or are the stories that they never sold out in most locations true?
The stories coming from both sides is telling. Sony seems very confident that they are going to have units to sell before Christmas while Microsoft was less optimistic. I'm wondering if this should be interpreted as Sony has a better supply than Microsoft.
How long until Sony announces 2 millions PS4s sold through?
Strangely, I kinda agree with this score. Most fun I've had in ages.
Twitch will probably just start banning Playroom streams.
Yep. I've got a feeling that despite Xbox launching globally, they will not beat the sales of PS4 which just launched in NA.
Next week it's going to get downright brutal
Wow. Just checked my local Target and they have them available. Searched other Targets in my area: 7/10 still have the Xbox One listed as being in-stock.
PS4 is sold out everywhere.
12:30pm on launch day and I can walk in to a store and buy one. Wow. This isn't looking good.
My question with the pre-orders is if something was restricting the number. Was their more supply than demand, or were there only a 3rd of the pre-orders because that's all MS could produce.
It'll be interesting to see what the sales numbers are for this thing.
I'm under the assumption MS was not able to manufacture as many units as Sony, and so if there are still units in stores, I don't think that bodes well.
The Console Wars have begun.
And just because the purchase isn't verified by Amazon doesn't mean a ton at this moment. A lot of the reviews were popping up before Amazon purchased units would have been delivered. But Amazon is a common place for people to go and post reviews. I've purchased a number of items from Best Buy and then left reviews at Amazon. It's where I go to get a wide range of reviews on items.
From everything I've read, yes, racing games and sports games are easier to do it because most of the HD assets will be pre-rendered and then loaded. Where XB1 and its esram are going to have a hard time is in open world games where the HD assets are going to need to be constantly loaded and very little is pre-rendered.
I'd argue that while MS and Sony make HD remakes of older games, they don't make those remakes into big announcements. WW HD remake was Nintendo's major fall release for the Wii U. I just don't see that as cutting it.
I think a problem with the launch game line-up for the Wii U was that it was full of a bunch of games that had already come out on other systems. So Batman may have been a good game, but it had been out on 360 and PS3 for months by then. I think it mad...
Wind Waker is fun, but come on. It came out for the GameCube 10 years ago. I played it on my Wii, and yes, it looks good and it's fun but if you want new customers, new games are probably a better strategy.
PS4 launches with 23 games, which is about what Wii U has garnered in its first year. (I kid... I kid)
I'm just talking about what you physically get. One gives you a console plus a camera accessory. The other gives you a console plus a portable console.
Add in $50 for PS+ and add in the value of the all the free games and you have an even bigger value when compared with adding the cost of Live Gold.
Xbox One + Kinect = $500
PS4 + PS Vita (+ memory card) = $500
I give Sony the win here. A Vita is definitely a lot more useful than a Kinect. Plus it doubles as an extra controller.
You can't have two controllers plugged in while starting the game? Since the XB1 controllers aren't rechargeable, why would you keep them plugged in? I guess if you don't have any batteries lying around and this is the only way to keep them powered up.
What a strange and stupid bug.
Since there a lot of players who are coming to the PS4 from the 360, you need to factor in games like Flower and Sound Shapes as well. Yes, a PS3 user might have played them, but to a lot of PS4 owners they will be completely new games.
edit: And add Trine 2 in as well. Sure it's been out for awhile, but never looking as glorious as it does now.
Didn't Jonathan Blow comment awhile ago that it wasn't 300,000 actual servers but 300,000 "virtual" servers? So that number may be incorrect as well.
Nice avatar :)
Sorry Richard, you have to go by "Rich" from now on.
Why does MS "ban" people all the time? It seems to be a big thing on the Xbox. I'm always seeing stories of users getting banned for this or that.
