No, from the sounds of it, this guy financially ruined himself. He made ambitious plans to build his own engine and then ended up making a broken game. He's not going to win financialy with that strategy no matter what platform he develops for.
This whole situation with Hello Games gets my "Conspiracy theory senses" tingling.
A really small studio announces an extremely ambitious game. The game captures the attention of a large portion of the gaming community. Then a short time later the studio is wiped out by a flood and they lose "everything."
I was really looking forward to playing this game but I'm really worried it was all vaporware.
I think the problem with a lot of the reviews is that they're from people who pounded through the game. So all they could see was the repetitive nature of the game. For me it works great. I play a couple chapters, go play something else, and then come back to it. The game isn't meant to be completed in one sitting.
Great game. I need to stop playing it and try some of the other games I got.
I CALLED IT! I knew that since I bought Bioshock Infinite when it went on sale a few weeks ago that it would soon be free on PS+. They always do that to me.
My next prediction: God of War Ascension will soon be free. It was just on sale for $10 and that means it's not long until it's part of the instant game collection. (though, since I resisted the temptation to buy it this time, maybe they'll screw with me and not do it)
I showed my wife the article in GameInformer about this guy and said two words:
"Challenge accepted."
I have about 50 games so far... I have some catching up to do.
Exactly! I can understand why Rare took their games out of Nintendo's Virtual Console, but why would a Konami remove The Simpsons??
And they're gone. Sold out again. At least the stand alone one is. The bundles seem to still be in stock.
And they're gone. Sold out again.
This seems to line up with some comments Jack Tretton and Andrew House made a few weeks ago about the availability of the PS4. They both made it pretty clear that they were confident that there would be consoles to buy before Christmas. Looks like the US just had a cargo vessel full of stock arrive from China.
Now I'm curious as to when Sony will talk about sales figures again. After New Years maybe?
Microsoft did say that the Xbox One was going to be the HOT item this holiday season.
But how many people out there bought the Wii thinking it would provide them with all these great new ways to play, and then the system just sat there? How many other people did the same? My parents bought a Wii and it hasn't been touched since the week they bought it. I think a lot of the customer base Nintendo was counting on looks at the Wii name and says, "Nope. You're not going to trick me again."
I never had a Gamecube. I bought a PS2 because I also needed a DVD player. Now I use the Wii to play Gamecube games with a Wavebird controller.
I like Nintendo. I grew up with the NES and have a N64 hooked up to my TV right now. I have an original Gameboy with fresh batteries upstairs and have a 3DS sitting right here. I waited in line the morning the Wii came out, and the Wii was my only console for a long time. By all accounts, I should be the customer for the Wii U, and yet I have no interest to buy one.
The Wii taught me some things, and I feel jaded. One is that when Nintendo introduces a unique new controller, peopl...
It is a cash-in, and that's the problem. It's an interesting idea and probably pretty fun, but is it $15 fun? Probably not. Seeing prices like these doesn't make me want to jump onboard this platform. I bought Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for $15, and that was a full fledged, hilarious, and amazing game.
Nintendo needs to drop their prices on their older franchises. I would be onboard if the prices dropped, but even games like Super Mario Bros. 2 are $5. $5 for an NES g...
You definitely get your money's worth from this game. I've probably poured more time into Dragon's Crown than any other game this year.
Yep. I see all this praise for the game, but every time I "play" it, I just don't get it. Is there a goal? A game usually has a goal that you're trying to achieve and while this game is relaxing, I don't think it's that great.
I for one am extremely excited. I've got my 8gb Vita card loaded up with all my PS1, PSP, and VitaTV compatible games. Now all I need is the console
I didn't hate it, but I think I was going in with really high expectations considering all the praise the game got. The controls weren't all that great for me, and there were nit picky things here or there that bothered me (why do all the people of Columbia throw away silver coins in the trash cans?). I then got to a point where I was just waiting for it to be over.
Someone wrote that the first 20 minutes were great, the last 20 minutes were great, and the eight hours in bet...
What is this? I'm reading about it, I watched the presentation, but kind of like the E3 that introduced the Wii U, I'm still confused.
So for $15 you get a game that has specific levels from different NES games that have been tweaked or altered? It's not the full games, right? Just chunks from the different games?
These games sucked up years of my childhood. Loved them. I also loved a number of the novels that came out tied to the series.
Too bad they made that movie... that horrible, horrible movie.
