Review scores barely mean anything anymore.
Whether or not the launch was a success is a matter of opinion. I can see why some people think it sucked - there was no big hitters like Zelda and Metroid, and no major third-party exclusives other than ZombiU. However I think people are being a little too harsh. There is Mario, there is plenty of AAA third-parties, and there is some fun to be had there - definitely better than some previous console lineups.

My best guess would be that the Wii U gets a $50 price cut when the PS4 and next Xbox get released.

80 hours for the standard controller is fantastic. And 4 hours for the tablet is pretty decent considering the 3DS/Vita have around that.

I can't say for sure until we know more about the online and OS and have a finalised launch games list.
However at the moment I would say this: it is not ESSENTIAL, you could wait a while without it and survive, but it IS looking like a solid console with a good launch lineup. I'm certainly more interested in it now than I was before, and that is without any Zelda or Smash Bros yet.
I normally wait a little after launch though, just to let the bugs sh...

Hmm could be the originals going to PS3 and Xbox 360, but I doubt it. I think it will either be a new game for the Wii U, the 3DS (as was shown last year), or both.
Either way I'm not gonna get over excited because I was slightly let down by Conduit 1 and 2, but I'm interested in the announcement nonetheless.

Anyway, this will definitely help Wii U sales in Japan.
