Should this really suprise anyone?
Link is much more well known and a classic hero of video games. Cloud was in a single Final Fantasy game, and not even the best one, at that.
It would have been better to set Could up against Locke (FF6, personally my facorite character), as both appeared in only one game.
The problem with that thinking is that the PS2 is cheap, as a lot of games at an affordable price, and, if you're just catching up, has a lot of movies it can play at an affordable price.
The PS3 is expensive, has games that cost up to $60, and has a format that may or may not be the HD format winner, and, regardless, has expensive movies.
They target totally different groups of consumers, so not everyone who would buy a PS2 would buy a PS3, and not every PS2 own...
You have the first list with Nintendo at the top.
Everyone else must have forgotten that the Mario franchise, alone, has sold almost 200 million games.
I also like Sega at #2.
In fact, my only real qualm with your list is that, at #3, I would have Square Enix, and totally drop Sony. Final Fantasy, as of late, hasn't had the wonderful experiances we used to see, but they're not so far removed from the first 7, which were all, at least, very good, t...
"All they did was make you expend more energy to do the same thing as pressing a button."
This is not true in the least.
Going on with the tennis idea. On any other console, the press of a button decides everything, based on what time you press that button.
With the Wii, when I swing my arm, I can decide how high the ball will go, how fast, how far, as well as the direction based on timing.
A normal controller can never co...
No, now, we all know, 360/PS3 fanboys will start claiming Earthworm Jim has been a much greater franchise than Sim City or The Sims, now.
We'll know they're just trying to make themselves feel better and that both franchises were the first to really pull gamers in a new direction, not unlike Nintendo has always been, while EArthworm Jim was good, but not something revolutionary, but rather, evolutionary, like the PS3/360.
However, I must say, I would rather David...
Well, if they let developers throw enough at a wall, something will eventually stick.
That seemed to be what Sony did with the PS and PS2, with the first year for both having a huge number of bad games, with some gems. Nintendo watched, learned, and, this gen, did the same thing.
I remember the days of the SNES that they wouldn't allow blood on games. Now here comes Manhunt 2, released the same time of the year as Mario Galaxy. That just shows how much Nintend...
But if after half a mile of a marathon, I've been going 6 steps for every one you take, and for the rest of that mile I've taken just one more step than you, I'm still getting a bigger lead on you as the marathon goes on (assuming we cover the same ground with each step.)
There's no way you can see the gap closing when Nintendo is still selling more, because Sony has to outsell Nintendo for the PS3 to catch up.
Now, when the PSP was the top seller in Japan, it wa...
One thing is for sure, the N64 gave us some games that may forever exist in gaming lore just by the amount of time they were the best of their genre before someone finally overcame it with a better game.
If this is indeed better than Mario 64 (but let's not get our hopes up about that, yet), Mario 64 will be first of the great giants of video games to fall.
I supose we'll them have hope of an adventure game being better than Ocerina of Time, or a FPS surpassing G...
"I've heard it compared to the GameCube so comparing it to the PS2 is a nice thing to say."
As far as power goes, the GC could be compared more closely to the Xbox than the PS2, and the Wii is even more powerful than the GC.
GC>PS2
Wii>GC
PS2>Wii?
Nope, we can't work that way. The PS2 was by far the weakest of last gens consoles, and comparing the Wii to it is just an insult to everyone's intelligence, and isn't ev...
Because that has everything to do with Nintendo and Sony?
I must have missed the memo when MS bought one of them out, then, because I could have sworn MS had no part in the decision making of Sony or Nintendo.
What makes a console a casual console?
Surely, it is not the fact that it has casual games, as all of the consoles have casual games (Madden, for instance). It can't be the lack of hardcore games, either, because all consoles have them as well.
I am more inclined to think of a 360 buyer buying it for their "fat kid" than a Wii owner, because I know of people who do virtually nothing but play Halo, while I know a number of normal healthy adults that own...
"Care to show some legit proof that isn't a forum post from a lemming site?"
Ice, we've been though this before, you can't prove a negative.
Can you show me a link that proves the 360 is going to sell moer than 15 million units this gen? No? Then do you think it will? You do think it will sell better than that, but then why no proof?
Exactly, you can't prove a negative.
It's not possible for multiple reasons, not the least of which is price. Can you imagine if Sony and MS, being 2 out of 3 three console makers, outvoted Nintendo to make the consoles more like a PC than a games console?
You'd end up with a single console, that costs $1000+, but has a lot of functions most people won't want or need. WIthout compitition, there is no incentive to offer a lesser version that would be cheaper or even lower the price.
I know some peo...
Actually, America is bigger than the rest of the world when it comes to video games. We're the biggest market over here (I suppose Canada helps, since the NA, but most NA sales, a vast majority, are from the USA).
That being said, winning in America isn't winning over the world. The 360 is outselling the Wii in America, but I'll bet my bottom dollar that though the world, the Wii is doing better.
However, if America wasn't bigger than the rest of the world, the...
"Kaplan also said the extra time for polish contributed to the delay"
This is likely the reason. Let's face it, if Brawl is anything less than perfection, riots will break out.
That perfection takes time.
I don't buy all the timing. They know Brawl will sell 365 days a year, wgenever the release is.
You don't look too hard for good games, huh?
I play my Wii, and most of my friends play their Wii, too.
Heck, my friends without a Wii play my Wii...the one reason for MP3 multiplayer would be that, I suppose.
Let's say the Wii sold 10 million and the DS sold 50% better, 15 million. That is one console every 1.2 seconds. Nintendo isn't a big company, and no company that makes accellerometers is big, either. Producing that much isn't easy.
...
But...but...*thinks of nonsense fanboy gibberish* it's just to GC duct taped together, so its last gen!
"Then GC outsold PS2 last gen."
But...but...Wii is next gen according to some people.
"Then Wii is beating PS3"
But...but...
"Microsoft is on to something with this new focus and whether or not you are a Nintendo zealot to the end, you need to realize that Microsoft may start attracting the younger crowd more effectively than you think."
Getting the kids is easy. You have to get the parents, too.
That's not easy with the reputation MS has.
"Microsoft wants to attract consumers by offering well known franchises and providing the new gaming crowd with a hos...
You can quickly create a must-have with a price cut like that, too.
With the flood of games comming, and Ghost Squad being just another one, it being cheaper than the normal game could really help sales.
KeiZka,
I'm sure he means he just did it, but I do agree that you are right.
Mario games can likely be credited with the origin of speed running! Mario Bros. can be a very short, easy game if you know what to do, where to warp, which pipes to go though, etc. However, to get the real experiance, there is much, much more to go though, and it is fairly long and extremely tough without a lot of practice.
Sunshine allows you to beat the game with less...
