Sad day :(
I don't like the company, but the sound cards in the 90's were something special.
It was the 3dfx of sound cards, I'd say.
I couldn't afford Sound Blaster 2.0 so I got a cheap Sound Galaxy. A SB2.0 clone with 8bit mono capabilities.
I remember reading articles about Sound Blaster 16. By the time the reviews of AWE 32 showed up in PC magazines, I already dreamed about getting a real Sound Blaster one d...
Yyyeeeaah, I don't buy this reason (for the game cancellation)
I suspect it had more to do with Microsoft's strategy. They were looking like they'll go into VR, with Xone X being announced as a future VR platform. Their collaboration with Oculus to include the xbox joypad.
But then, they probably realized their next console generation will be focused on the crappy Xbox Series S, not X, so they abandoned VR completely.
I guess back wh...
No gameplay.
Cringy as F voice acting - "together we drive"
B-tier developer (or maybe even C tier)
I loved Test Drive Unlimited 1.
I even loved Test Drive 3 in 1993.
But I'm not holding any hopes for this being good.
This franchise deserves better, but the thing is - if you want to create a good Test Drive game or Test Drive Unlimited game, you'd have to make a game which won't get big enoug...
Facebook/Meta just wanted to track you, to leech every last bit of your privacy.
This changes nothing in this regard.
- you still will be spied on. Everything you look at in VR will be analyzed. Every of your friend walking in, will be identified, everything in your room will be recorded, everything you say will be recorded. Your unique eye scan will be taken as soon as new device is equipped with so called "foveated rendering" with meaningless performance savings ...
I have three remarks to share:
1. That studio is broken, shattered and diffucult to glue back togethere. Just think about it. A year and they couldn't make a PS5/XX version of Cyberpunk? What excluse they have left? The fact they were busy on efficiently fixing all the bugs in original release of Cyberpunk? If it doesn't yell "management disaster" then I don't know what would. If you have any shares in CDPR, you'd better lose your rose-tinted glass...
He lost me at the first word about politics. I really want to be wrong here, as I have no idea what that German political party is and represents, but sounds awful lot like SJW cultist, who sees racists, nazis and devils wherever anyone dares to oppose their woke/leftist point of view. What he writes about loosing part of his consumer base would fit in this well. If he cannot understand how coming out as a political cultists can turn some people away and just generalizes and puts such a wide ...
The "majority" is still just as dumb as before. The game was simply f...d.
It had micro-stutters and never ever ran properly. People who say otherwise simply couldn't see the microstutter because of their LCD display's blurry motion. It should fly in 85fps or 100fps on fastest CPU back then, but it didn't. It was a buggy, awful port. I had a CPU over twice as fast as what x360 had. A GPU 5x as fast. And I couldn't do anything to make it run perfectly.
The old game is exactly the same thing, just without some filters and it costs like 2$ on Steam.
But it needs manual patching to get 60fps. This new one has 60fps (hopefully 120 too!) by default.
Do you miss the real "arcade" games? I mean the games with the soul of arcade machines from the 90's?
Then you won't regret getting this game. It's not the top quality game. 1/3 of it seems to be done by "noobs", but overall, it is ...
Yes, but Forza 2 was also nextgen only. No Xbox version
and Forza 5 too. No x360 version
OK, with F5 they were also bragging about having dirt and imperfections on the car paint ;)
I enjoyed the games, especially since the third one, but I think this repeated "look at our physics, now it's real!" for 3 generations is dumb as hell. ;)
and I don't really care which one is "the king". I like both FM and GT.

Well, in terms of graphics rich in detail (rendered, not "in scene") PS5 is like 900p-1080p 120fps console, with 1080p having visible cuts to the detail etc.
For 60fps PS5 is around 1000-1500p. Of course you can bump this up to 2160 or even beyond if the game is "lighter", more towards indie, not full blown "top AAA". With new games designed only for PS5, it will be closer to 1000p than 1440p.
Then we have raytracing which ...
Every generation hey say the same thing.
I remember the "revolution" they were talking about when going from first Forza to Forza 2 on x360.
Then again with newer games and basically the same shit with Xone and now.
Even with Forza 2 there was exactly the same thing:
"This new hardware allows for such a huge jump. Physics are unlike anything before! it's amazing how realisitic our physics are now. Blah blah blah"
(...
I'm afraid it will be sadly the best of PS5 life cycle.
I'd rather get 60fps with PS3 graphics instead of 30fps with PS5 graphics.
This is still not the time to celebrate. It still can end up with unstable 60fps, but it's the best news I've read today and I'm really happy.
That said. Not everything is all that rosy. If you're experienced in graphics analysis in games, you surely saw object and lod pop-in on the ...
"Being able to render so many polygons at playable frame rates is a pretty big deal."
30fps on most powerful console (Xbox X won't ever be the target for console games, until next gen or PRO at the end of this decade) is NOT playable framerate. It doesn't exactly run fast on PCs either.
I can't tag in responses so I wrote more about it in a response to Ryushaa. I elaborated there.
@sleepyhead62
same thing
yeah.. no :)
"Artists don't need to constrain their design by number of polygons" - Not true. It CAN be true
if all they care is narrative so only things close to camera matter.
I've seen professionals saying we've got enough geometry for everything in x360/ps3 era. They were writing that there's no point in having more as you can't see the difference - and they showed the human character as an example.
But how abo...
Well, on the bright side, this lessens the danger of getting framerate issues.
If there's PS4 version, then it means there's performance optimized version. With the history of GT and GoW games, we could be concerned about drops below 60fps or 120 in Gran Turismo. Now a stable 120fps is very likely unless they do something insanely stupid like releasing GT on PS4 as a 30fps game (or unlocked 35-45fps which is equally bad).
God of War will also surely have stable 60fps...
Just a guy who enjoyed the gaming in its golden era (80's 90's and early 2000s) and who's not in love with things which are served to gamers as awesome nowadays, while being "meh" at best and actually backwards at worst.
gaming journalism drums the hype as the companies ask them to. Digital Foundry is one example, and ridiculous and worhtless "news" like this is another.
Well OK, I'm a nerd too. :P
Or maybe more like "was&q...
Yeah. Awesome.
Meanwhile the amount of unique geometry at framerate not dipping below 60fps is?
Take a guess
a) also 10 billions
b) 1 billion
c) 100 millions
d) 10 millions
e) 1 million
d) none of the above, we're still in the shitty 100-500k, a drunk optimist might say 1M (rendered, not "in scene") but that's probably too much. There's no data cause no game consists solely of unique geometry.
If you want to know how the game looks, don't waste your time on this trailer or even the official one when it's released.
It's an almost epileptic amount of flashes stiched together to make it as "dynamic" and epic as possible, so it's complete worthless crap for someone who'd like to see how does the game look like when you actually play it.
I'd call it a teaser trailer at best.
Part 2 of 2
But VR is not my only concern. Imagine a situation where Sony pushes more towards party games and "live services" and this can result in the same changes like we've seen in last few years. Fallout 76 had no single player mode. You could say F76 is more of a "social" experience. Star Wars Kotor was not social focused game. Anthem was. Note the differences ;)
About "adding". No. Just no. Did Nintendo added casuals to thei...
Corporate idiots at work again. :/
PSVR2 should have ALWAYS been targetting core gamers. Not casuals. And social crap is NOT what core gamers want. They want good games.
Sony pulled some stupid conclusions after polling the wrong group of people (casual gamers and core gamers who simply do not know that VR can be awesome, due to being pushed away by lackluster PSVR1 or other reasons).
The hardware is for core gamers. Core gamers tend to read an...
