1. Animation is better than 99,99% of sidescrolled platform games released in 2020-2024
Just look at the shitty, clunky and downright amateur animations in games being made now.
2. Graphics still look better on CRT or 4K TV via retrotink or proper CRT filter, compared to 90% platform games released in 2024. It has a nice style. It was one of its kind. Now 99% of indie games in the genre look the same, generic, ugly, infantile, sterile, "paper like" or with "re...

So? How did that went for ya? ;)

Abandoning investment in awesome SP exclusives besised a few "sure-fire" ones like next Spiderman, probably GoW etc.

Completely abandoning VR (I think even most dellusional people can see that now)

NO VR version or even mode planned for Astrobot.

Last month they made a price hike (so far only in Japan)
The Playstation 5 pro offering way shittier upgrade compared to...

To the people who wonder why Astrobot sales badly:

Cause the industry killed the genre. Look around. Everything is in shitty infantile style, "cute and charming". While that works great for women and kids, it also pushes away male gamers who don't happen to like such things. And that's more than half. So we get Astrobot, a brilliant game that has very good design and design choice (notice no fancy lighting, but good res, AA and stable framerate!) so a thin...

title: ""But Astro Bot Shows There’s Still Hope""

I'd paraphrase this:

"Astro Bot shows there's no hope for PSVR2".

Pretty sure there's much more fun in VR than in one game, no matter how overhyped it would be.
BTW. It's being praised just because this game genre is neglected and there's nothing top-tier since years.
The game's just OK, and obviously made well, by a...

Was about to say that. It's almost as if people got bored with nice visuals and didn't find the game fun enough to continue.
The times we live in are sad compared to the golden era I was lucky to experience 30 years ago. Games were fun and were made to be played, not watched. Now all the big publishers and console manufacturers seem to be only able to discern two game genres. Multiplayer focused online game and story driven single player games.
Where are gameplay dri...

Yes, but also no. AMD let their PC GPU marketshare to shrink by a lot (and accidentally helped the whole market shrink in general due to bad value of PC GPUs over the years) and while their console business may be important here, I'd still argue their profits from GPU division could've been much better if not for mismanagement.

That's a complicated question. Depends on what you mean. The pricing at the release date or the pricing planned ahead. They couldn't just suddenly end up in a situation where their existing stock of 6000 cards is suddenly unsellable, but if it was properly rolled out, the prices should be where they were while PC gaming industry was healthy. I recognize the arguments about inflation, higher power draw and PCB/BOM costs, more expensive wafers from TSMC etc. but still, PC gaming needs s...

Oh wow. How surprising! Nvidia overpriced their RTX cards by +100% and AMD instead of offering real competition, decided to join Nvidia in their greedy approach, while not having the same mindshare as Nvidia (sadly) does. The 7900 launch was a marketing disaster. All the reviews were made while the card was not worth the money at all, they lowered the price a bit later on, but not only not enough but also too late and out of "free marketing" window coming along with the new card gen...

What a bunch of nonsense.
Gamers saw 0 seconds of actual gameplay and the author of this "article" says they don't want the game.

You can improve quality but you will never be able to reach native quality in motion. The biggest part of why these upscallers are so praised is because they use previous frame data. You cannot do that without degrading latency and/or hurting the motion quality. If you put another flaw on top of it, coming from sample and hold method of displaying image, or coming from low framerate, sure, the difference between "screwed up image" vs. "image screwed up even more" may seem ...

Oh, look. A big clueless corpo relying on surveys to determine their direction. That's new! ;)

Kinect, TV TV TV with Xone, ignoring VR and now this. Yeah. This will surely be a good move. Not like the hype for Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck already fizzled out or anything. Surely it will be a huge success. Just look at Asus Rog Ally, Lenovo Legion, MSI Claw. People are crazy about those and everything is instantly bought out.
If they are preparing something no...

Almost deaf person:
- lightweight portable 5$, speakers of 0,5cm diameter are the final nail in coffin of Hi-Fi audio!

Some people in 2010:
- smartphones are the final nain in the console gaming's coffin!

This is just the same.
AI upscalling is complete dogshit in terms of motion quality. The fact that someone is not aware of it (look at the deaf guy example) doesn't mean the flaws are not there. They are. And all it takes t...

It's a really shitty Prince of Persia game.
There are people who know the PoP brand and like it. They didn't get the PoP game.
All the stuff looks like taken from an anime and the gameplay is a Metroidvania focused on challenging difficulty, because souls games are now popular.
Also the graphics are gimped down to 2005 x360, cause that's what Switch is. Basically an x360 with just a bit more memory. The visuals are compromised as hell because of that. ...

It will not:
- be made by genius working with passion, resulting in best of the best arcade driving model and track design
- be the definition of next-gen visuals like Burnout 2, 3, Dominator were for PS2
- have good meal riffs music, and neat dynamic elements (slow speed = one music, fast = different music)
- have the visuals truly faithful to what classic arcade gaming was (1990s, early 2000s). They will make it realistic, surely, for no freaking reason w...

Why not 1080p or 720p? If you say other game looked OK at 720p then surely people paying 2000$ for a graphics card will agree and be happy playing games at that resolutions.
PS. 1080p is actually max you can play to mainain 60fps on RTX 4080. If someone wanted to play at 120, then 4090 is not even enough for 1080p.
And it's not game's fault. It's Unreal Crapgine. Overhyped, super heavy crap that has no place in games and no benefits for games or gamers. Just for ...

Saying 1440p-ish DLLSed to 4K looks as good as native is funny enough already, but adding frame generation there and to say it looks BETTER is the most funny BS I've read this month. You sir, are a natural jester.

The game was not finished and received criticism over it, rightfully so.
Then there's absolutely no marketing.
Then there's the matter of game genre. Most of the targetted client base already HAS this game on PS5 or plays on Nintendo Switch.

Also. The game is just horribly bad compared to what it could've been. I mean also the PS5 version.
- the game is the worst R&C I ever played. It's SO MUCH worse than PS2 and PS3 games, ...

Can anyone tell me how does the tracking work in comparison?
I've tested on two separate Quest 2 headsets.

How does it relate to
- PSVR2?
- Rift S?
- Pico 4?
- Index (Lighthouse 2.0) tracking?

I'm not sure if I'm just that bad or the accuracy of the tracking lefts something to be desired. Sometimes it's just not going where I intended even if I do a few practice swings. Likewise, getting some tr...

Yeah. Who cares about the most important factor in gaming: how FUN the game is to play.

Yeah. Screw that. Who needs the game to feel OK, to be as much enjoyable as possible. To be as quick to learn in terms of control as possible. To be fun even before you get up to super high skill level.

Only 90% of people who actually play the games would mind having the core mechanic sacrificed for better graphics, so meh..

EA in 2018: single player games are dead
Same stupidity
They have no clue that properly presented VR gaming would unveil a consumer base (core gamers) easily 100x or 1000x as big as their stupid estimates based on completely wrong "survey" data.
In terms of VR, you can only get correct answer from someone who had a chance to both see the good VR and had a chance to approach it correctly (maybe don't do full motion games in your first hour of VR, and ...
