He's not retiring. If he was(which he wasn't), he isn't now as he stated this.
The story was swept under once everyone realized it was a nonstory that wasn't worth mentioning.

I don't personally want the vita to fail, but I am upset at the uneven attention the two consoles have received based on the very fanboyism you decried yourself.
The 3ds took a thrashing from some for things it did better than the vita is currently. Yet many of those same people don't see a problem now that it is the vitas turn.
But bottom line: diversity and competition are good.

The psp was never the king in Japan either. The monster hunter induced surge wasn't even enough.

The 3ds never did this poorly, especially right after its launch.
The 3ds didn't deserve most of the flack it got, and definitely never deserved the "doomed" forecasts it received.
The vita isn't doing an amazing job sales wise, which is the point of discussion here.
*Edit* who said the psv was the sole cause of the price drop? And even if it was, if it is working then how can you knock them for it?

Well said, except one thing...
The great Japan eastern offshore earthquake was after the 3ds launch. ( about 2 weeks)
The earthquake had to have had a crippling effect for a while, but not at launch.
I do agree with most of what you are saying, however.

Yes I can compare the two, because that is what people can buy now. When someone buys a 3ds, they don't get sucked into the past. They have games out now to choose from as well. And if you are choosing between a 3ds or vita in Japan right now, you have an expensive system with a few good games and a few coming, and a comparatively cheaper console with quite a few good games(including MH and SM3DL) and a bunch more coming.
And we know from the ds that Nintendo is also great at long...

No, it doesn't make the vita a piece of crap. You're right.
I currently have no interest in it, but it does have a potentially promising future lineup of games and context. And much like the psp, maybe I will end up a late adopter myself.

I expected sales like this last week. Although, not quite as bad as this...
This is also similar to what happened to the 3ds: there is currently a cheaper alternative that a lot of people don't have. The 3ds was thrashed by the psp, but vita has got it worse. It has the 3ds and the psp, and both consoles have monster hunter.
The multiple machine types (3g, wifi) and proprietary memory cards probably aren't helping either.

It isn't that reasonable when tou add the cost of memory cards, and the launch lineup is nowhere near as good as the 3ds current lineup.

Yep, and thanks to the media coverage it probably isn't a suprise christmas gift... if it was ever meant to be.

Kingdom hearts, kid icarus, resident evil, metal gear solid...so on. 3ds isn't dead.

Told you guys it was inevitable...

I'm not one to judge, but having sex with a game console probably isn't very healthy for your console and will most likely void your warranty...
I also fail to understand how 15 people can disagree with a very true statement.
Also @bwazy, I'm not touching that link, but I have a pretty good idea of what it leads to...
Lol @_@;

Neither of you bothered to even try to understand...
It wasn't built-in because it wasn't and will not ever become a mandatory feature.
The only way it ever will be is if the attachment takes off enough to warrant it being mandatory, and any such update is at least a full year off.

5290d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Perhaps. But then again we buy game consoles to play games, not to have sex with them.

5290d ago 5 agree15 disagreeView comment

Circle pad pro is an optional attachment, as no game requires it yet and is being sold through gamestop exclusively in the usa. It was probably something capcom and other 3rd parties wanted(it was co-created by capcom), so Nintendo threw them a bone.
It seems well thought out to me. Doesn't make it less ugly to look at... but since it has handholds, will probably be at least somewhat comfortable to hold.

Not to nit pick (well, maybe just a little...), but ffx is as much of a system seller as Zelda OoT. Perhaps less so, as ffx is more recent.
The respective libraries (in Japan mostly) are quite comparable, and will continue to be into next year as both consoles receive lots of big name titles. The only comparative difference is the 3ds head start which gives more mental space in peoples mind and a bigger user base to spread word of mouth.

5291d ago 2 agree3 disagreeView comment

With the circle pad pro being sold exclusively through gamestop in the us and all compatible games utilizing it as an option and not a necessity it doesn't seem like a built-in second stick is a direction Nintendo is going in, or a necessary one.
That's not to say there definitely won't be such a revision, but it is looking increasingly more unlikely, and would be quite far off if it were to happen. (Fall '12~spring '13 timeframe)

Then the ps3 is an utter failure, and has always been just like the 3ds.

5291d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

It had good games, just not a lot of them. What it lacked was a reasonable price point and at least on GREAT game.
