Yeah, one of the commenters said that it was a speculative blurb and not even an actual rumor. The commenter quoted from the article where this story comes from:
“Will 3DS Lite Make an Appearance? To continue the spread/momentum, a version addressing the ‘weak points’ (thickness, runtime) is a possibility.”

No Ghost trick? No Sm3dl? No Ghost trick?

Capcom wanted to release these games (p3rd, p3rd hd) in America, but claims problems on sonys end are keeping them from doing so.(something about ad-hoc party updates and trophies..) 3g 3ds is more likely to come stateside, as Nintendo themselves published the wii version and would most likely publish the 3ds one as well.
And monster hunter doesn't need sony to sell well, although it would sell more overall the more consoles it is released on.

What monsters? I was under the impression all the monsters fron p3rd were in it.
I really wanted to import this game,but I couldn't afford it... -_-;

Tigrex is in mh4, an upcoming 3ds title.

It is as obvious as the fact that sony is working on a revised vita as well; of course they(sony and Nintendo) are. But without a speculated release timeframe, this rumor isn't worth much outside its lacking of second stick being mentioned.

@lnd
They had very few skus initially, and through the lite and i increased in number as the 3ds started to creep its way onto the scene.
Just like the gb and gba.
Also, the 3ds is much more powerful than a ds. Nintendo recently unlocked more power for devs as well, making it even more capable.
It can run monster hunter tri better/as well as the wii WITH 3d. (And I'm pretty sure the 3ds and capcom accomplished this and RE:R without the extra power from Nint...

The accessory was co developed by capcom, and isn't mandatory for any games.
The rumor posted here says nothing of a second stick or when this new system will be released, which past nikkei rumors usually have for this sort of thing. This makes me think that a revision is far off, and in the planning phase. (Which is what I thought before this rumor came out.) If the slide pad accessory becomes more widespread and accepted, then the revision may include it.

Ever since the game cube, Nintendo has always had the most doom and gloom receptions from the gaming media. And if you were paying attention to last march untill August, the majority of Nintendo stories on n4g were about "3ds is doomed and so is Nintendo".

The market has grown much bigger since these previous launches, so it should be expected to do better regardless.

Aw, crap. Stupid tablet touch screen.
I didn't mean to hit "disagree". My bad.
@estranged
Not a major one. It was that very era that saw an incredible growth in the industry.
The gaming world was quite large, but not big enough or mainstream enough to expect massive day one sales of a new device. The vita has all of PlayStation history as a backing for massive sales, so of course it should sell better than its predecessors. But in this day and age...

CoD probably won't sell on vita if it means its fans will have to stop playing CoD to buy it, unless it is standalone and different enough.

You mean the launches, right? Because that is still a little iffy.
The ps2 launched in an era where games had yet to gain a major foothold and against the dreamcast(which was still doing ok in Japan at the time), and the ps3 was overpriced and the launch lineup was awful.
And while outselling the psp is more impressive, (if not just a sign of overall market growth) it(the vita) was crushed in its own full launch week by that very system.

5269d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

This is what bothers me personally. The 3ds launch and period afterwards was much better than the vita is current status, but the n4g public perception couldn't be more different.
Time will ultimately tell, but if this isn't just a single week thing the vita will have a rough post launch period.
Edit
Yikes, that second sentence was a mess...
"The 3ds was doing much better launch and post launch than the vita is currently,"~

The 3ds's first full week was much better than the vitas, which saw a 70% or so drop from its first 2 days.
Furthermore, the 3ds's first 2 days were a bit better than the vitas and the 3ds had less stock available at launch than the vita.

@zippy
Season pass is additional content made more affordable, not day one content locked out.
Although I don't know much about season passes... are they only available to new copies?

Dead or alive dimensions.
Monster Hunter 3g is also supposed to be real pretty, but that hasn't been officially confirmed for anyone outside Japan.

"The sudden price drop after only a few months, the addition of an ugly second analogue nub attachment that really should have been on the console anyway, and the appalling length of time it took them to come up with some games that were actually worth buying make the 3DS one of the worst hardware launches in recent memory."

It was the only launch in recent memory. The ps3, 360, and wii launches were quite awful themselves, and the only reason they aren't rememb...
