I disagree with the assertion that they had the best conferences. Especially last years tgs, as the pre tgs shows Nintendo had blew Sony tgs out of the water.
Your point about ps4 makes sense. However, the wiiu hasn't had a negative effect the 3ds, so why should the vita be affected by the ps4? And that's the real problem: the vita needs the support especially in Japan and it isn't getting it.
The problem is, with no new hardware upgrades Sony only has games. Guess what they didn't showcase at their own conference? Games.
The vita especially is in dire need. This is the most important games show for the Japanese masses, and what do they showcase? A bunch of games you can by on the psp you already own, a remake of a game you can get cheap for anther console most are likely to already own, and a game that got a release date, name and price... but NO details. Whic...
You mean all the psp games? Or the Wii port? Or the mystery game from a 3ds franchise, which may also be a port?

3Rd parties have been making strong showings for the 3ds at tgs. FAR stronger than any other platform. Another fact.

Yes... Japan has many great games... that aren't coming over here((or haven't come yet, depending on which games)
Those games were the focus of my comment, since these are Japanese sales numbers. There is a very good reason for the 3ds domination; good games make a console what it is. In Japan, what the 3ds is is a great console.
By spring next year, things will have kicked up a lot in other territories as well.

Each copy of the ds version came with a book requires for play. In the PS3 version, the book is in game. The book just makes localization complicated and expensive.

This guy has misspoke/been misunderstood about the wiiu several times already, with most instances been taken out of context.
The online infrastructure is fine, but certain details are uncertain is what he is trying to say.
Though the fact that he is involved in this for as long as he has been and there are still unanswered questions is understandably disconcerting ...

The wiiu is innovative by being an all inclusive console with its tech, but this doesn't make it the most innovative ever in my books. And its tech is not original, even if it being integrated as a dedicated experience is. This is true.
The WiiU being underpowered and "childish characters" statement are not.
WiiU isn't out yet. The Vita has had half a year of business to acquire fresh software lineups from devs, and this is what we have been shown so far.
By this time the 3ds was swimming in exclusive game announcements for itself.

The vita has few, if any original games of its own. At the tgs conference were announcements of ports and multiplatform titles, with one of the few original vita games seeing a delay.
When people say "no games", they most likely mean " no vita only games of particular interest"
And Senran Kagura is a 3ds port...

I mean, it's a game were you can PLAY WITH HUMAN EXCREMENT. I don't think it was a serious game in any fashion.

Have you heard of EX Troopers? It is a spinoff form Lost Planet for 3ds and ps3.
Capcom have stated they have no plans for localization, though(despite taking out trademark filings outside of Japan, if memory serves..)
