I have a kinect, and I actually do hope MS does try to come up with some new uses for it, kinect adventures, sports and dance central were fun for like a week and whenever there's a house party. There is some promise there, but it just seems unlikely they'll be able to come up with a stellar AAA kinect game; hope they prove me wrong.
Sony's got me covered in the hardcore department, so I don't need that from MS (and I don't pay for live), I hope more game...
yea. but they were already developing half way on 360; they were already limited; so it annoyed some of the engineers that wanted a real challenge, and PS3 was somewhere where their talents/efforts would show results in the game itself. Makes sense to me.
I think Sony will introduce a HDD-less 16gb console at $200.. then drop the 320gb to $250.
MS I don't know what they'll do but they'll have to drop their high end to match sony's high end. (I think MS will cut kinect to $99, if not then they will by november)
I also think it's likely we'll see a new redesign with a HDD-less model with 16gb flash. Probably aggressively priced at $199. I knew this time would come, it's probably this year flash prices have finally come down enough for Sony to drop the hard drive and still have a fully functional PS3.
It's pretty telling, we might have a $199 price point at E3.

I thought the game was pretty cool, Co op was great the one night I got to play it. I wish the camera was back where it was in Old Socom games. Also the Music is pretty poor in my opinion, I didn't like hearing that one 'oriental' them playing over and over. Solid game more like an 8-9 than a 6-7 like the games media would have you believe.
What bothers me the most is the people that think Anon bears no responsibility in this matter. Maybe they didn't actually take the data themselves, but they showed enough people they don't have any idea if they can trust ways in.

The funny thing is there's really no distinction between the journalists and the bloggers anymore. It's a joke to suggest that most video game publications hold themselves to standard journalistic practices (like not taking gifts of any kind(free 360s at E3), not letting anyone pay for their travel to events, full disclosure) These guys are supposed to protect from having any appearance of impropriety, but they certainly don't - they attend paid for lavish 'review events'...
because one company had to pack on a full 3 year warranty to avoid a class action lawsuit; where as the other one didn't. and they only did for a specific flaw that they were owning up to - they didn't warranty your system is the drive stopped reading disks.
yea but if we were still in 2007-2008, how long till the replacement goes down too, as well as the reality of naging fear that it will break down?
One was primarily the companies fault, the other was primarily hackers doing. Maybe we should throw 9/11 into the mix of 'what's worse' considering you shouldn't tie the two scenarios together.
I'm willing to bet the press will be in love with it. It will be proof that kinect can do hardcore to them I'm sure. Unless MS doesn't have the influence I think they do.
It's highly unlikely that everyone will take advantage of the package, I would guess maybe 3-5% of the accounts actually file for identity protection from Sony. On top of that you can bet Sony shopped around to find the best bulk deal they could get with companies. Doubt it's going to put a sizable chunk into Sony - this is to avoid the situation where they would be forced to pay for it if they lose a lawsuit - that would cost them billions and look bad in the process.
Well timed exclusives and less new IPs has plenty of basis, MS simply doesn't own too many studios to make new IPs themselves. If the new hardware isn't powerful enough to eliminate a PS3 version, they won't have very many exclusives at all - It simply would be a huge drain on money. They could pay for them this gen because paying off potential sales of a small ps3 user base was feasible.
How many game studios could MS have boughten with 8 billion? Maybe 8 quality ones..give or take.. But I'm sure adding skype to xbox live gold was well worth the cost over that.
