I'd go as far to say Edge get's their original stories and 'unnamed' sources directly from (probably) Microsoft's PR department - whether they know it's MS or not I don't know - but they sure do print the stories. Part of responsible journalism includes investigating your stories in search of the truth. They quote percentages to hide the real figures just like Sony or Microsoft's PR would.

Yesterday we learned Smear campaigns really happen an...

It's funny, Edge doesn't even list the stores they interviewed from their sources. This makes it hard to refute a claim that way - say someone else goes and asks the same store or even someone from the store themselves tells a different story.

Everyone else in the media went ahead and printed the Edge story without checking the facts. Funny it takes a lowly journalist from 'betanews' to actually come through with journalistic integrity.

I wonder if the new Resident Evil got pushed to NGP - that makes a whole lot of sense. It's possible it got moved as the 3Ds one, but that seems unlikely as there probably was some kind of deal in place.

Most of the 'experts' that go around touting the Sony should have done better line - work at IT/security companies who stand to gain from Sony's perceived 'incompetence'. It's in their best financial interest to try to make other companies invest in their services. I would appreciate an 'expert's' point of view that worked on the law enforcement side, and thus would not stand to gain from bashing Sony.

He didn't make that up, I got the same impression from the article. The article compares the game to Gears and Halo - as if Halo and Gears are the best multiplayer games out there. It's like he's saying this game might be pretty good - but let's remember 360 has the best multiplayer games. If the journalist wanted to be impartial he would have compared it to the original WarHawk on PS3.

This topic title is like saying: "Starhawk is just trying to be a Gears of War ripoff, but since Gears of War is the greatest game on the market - maybe it'll turn out good" The guy throws in Halo references too, it's quite obvious what he thinks is defacto the best multiplayer. This game looks a lot like a PS3 game called WARHAWK, which didn't really resemble gears or Halo that much - I don't think the author ever even played it.

The online social community aspect is what keeps everyone coming back. The game's an arcade kill simulator.

Hopefully Respawn entertainment will force them to upgrade their engine - when their inevitable CoD clone hits the market.

I always buy Call of Duty, but the only reason I keep buying it is because everyone else on my Friends list does - and that way we always have a current game to play online together.

He's right, it doesn't. Though it makes it more likely that will be and it certainly makes it very unlikely the PS3 version will come out noticeably inferior.

JC2 was somewhat impressive, but in reality where were the unique buildings you're used to seeing in the GTA universe? There was a whole ton of reused assets there. Red Dead was the same way - I'd like to see more unique locations everywhere - The GTA series last gen was much better at providing individuality between the urban areas. The Housers' said it themselves after GTAIV, they had maxed the DVD media out; and they didn't know where to go from there as they are strong ...

@xstation79

The Sales = Quality argument, good stuff..
It's well known that massive sales often come when a game caters to more casual players - sure there's quality but it doesn't mean the game will hold the attention of someone with higher intellectual prowess. You also have to factor in the case where a console doesn't have a lot of competition for that one game, thus making it the game everyone buys.

Black Ops did come out better ...

From what I've read on this stuff, there's a lot of Devs that comment on the fact 360 has better debugging software, which makes it easier to develop there. You create a game that's got holes are all over the place and it's inefficiently programmed, the 360 will be able to handle that and bring it up and running - the PS3 won't. So if you didn't design for the PS3 in mind, you're going to have to redo a whole bunch of the design to work on the PS3 - or you can str...

I'm really wondering how rockstar is going to make GTA5 it's such a huge question mark. If it's on the 360 too is GTA5 going to end up only partial free roaming like LANoire? The only solution for GTA5 I can see is for the 360 version of the game to come with a 16gb flash drive.

The only reason 'we' (the media that tells us whats going on) are all blaming it on Sony is because of the smear campaign against Sony, probably coming from Microsoft. These 'stories' are fed to bloggers and sites who then sell them to the media sites as news - then the major sites are looking for stories so they post them as well. When you spend enough time on N4g you start to see the big picture.

Well a price cut is all but expected, Saying it was because of EA is a bit reaching. I'm sure all the publishers press the console makers all the time, but they can only do so much. The price cut will probably happen, but that is a long ways from proving this stories legitimacy that EA was behind it. EA would be absolutely stupid to 'ditch' Sony, after all that's where they make most of their money (EU sells at higher margins and Fifa.) Poeople won't be running out to bu...

I don't really mind if a dev uses a gig or 2 for caching files - if it helps the game run better it's fine. The 5-6gb installs usually hint that a developer developed a game to be too reliant on the 360's outer disk area and ported over to PS3.
In my opinion it's better to have one install, where I can leave the room and come back later than have to get up and switch a disk at an unknown point in the game.

CVG is in it for Hits, Edge is their source for this story.

Yea it's funny they can't name the retailer - cause it's MADE UP. They quoted Edge.

"who told Edge under conditions of anonymity that the PSN troubles are having a major impact on the high street."

Told EDGE under conditions of anonymity??? smell FISHY? hahaha what a pile of sh*t article.. really. GET A BETTER SOURCE, and why under 'anonymity'??

Edge is Microsoft's PR puppet, the reviews, everything. They should not be quoted as a legitimate source.

Well after this, the reality that MS has it's own PR people I'm not going to doubt that MS has been up to no good. The reality behind the scenes is quite disturbing and real.
