Last time I was a gold member, they tried locking my account down on me too - since my cc on the account was expired, but I just ignored it about a week later and 3-5 emails they finally gave in and downgraded me back to silver.

I still don't understand why Metacritic hasn't kicked Edge out of their ratings. It's probably quite the opposite, they likely give Edge a lot of weight with their magic formula. As long as Metacritic includes Edge, Metacritic is as much of a joke as Edge is.
Square-Enix has been against this for a long time for good reason - most of the team that made those games has split up and is no longer together, making another game in the series would be a disservice to the hard work they put into the games.
