The only thing more stupid than the content is the format, who on earth chose to have a dark font on a black background? I had to drag my mouse over the whole lot to highlight it before reading.

I think you'll have a hard time convincing Activision when the original 'boycott MW2' groups that sprung up before release all crumbled. Plenty of talk about boycotting for this and that reason but as soon as it arrived most of the people in those groups could be seen playing the game.

Its Kotaku, in a few weeks they will publish their answer to the question they asked gamers and the list will most likely be full of Sony exclusive franchises. They will accuse Sony of milking such franchises as Gran Turismo, Resistance Fall of Man, Killzone etc.

"These games are crazy, seen one of my buddies playing on PC and wow
makes BC2 seem like a joke, the immersion of these Arma games are
crazy, they even sell or promote Head tracking cameras, where you
literally peak out in a real manner its crazy."

ARMA and BFBC2/MW2 are different games trying to achieve different things. ARMA strives for realism and is used by real protection agencies around the world for training purposes. BFBC2 and MW2 are there ...

There are good and bad gamers on every online service. Back in years gone by when PC's were more expensive and people were less likely to have one in the home gamers tended to be more mature. There were 20,30,40+ year old users as they were the ones with the disposable income to buy a PC to game on. Over the last 10-15 years as PC's have become cheaper and they have become more commonplace in the home the online PC scene is every bit as bad as the consoles with snot nosed kids running off at ...

If people like the game then they will pay for more content. Mods are ok but very few match the quality of official professionally created add-ons though its a bit poor that two of the maps in this map pack are remakes from the previous Modern Warfare game. Now if they sweetened the deal with a new game mode that removed the silly perks and killstreak rewards that would be great - return the game to being about what a FPS should be - shooting people and not camping in a corner waiting for you...

Its a shame the bubble has burst for a lot of gamers with MW2. The glitches, cheats and some ridiculous game play features have made a lot of gamers go elsewhere. IW got wrapped up in the whole perk system and totally over cooked it so you get players using annoying combinations light 'lightweight' 'marathon' and 'commando' together or dual wield shotguns that turn a player into a running deathstar. Or how about the stupid perks that can ruin a good match like the powerful AC-130 or the nuke....

IW became obsessed with perks after CoD4, created more and ended up unbalancing the game play. Who really wants to sit in a game where a guy hiding in the corner is rewarded by yet more game unbalancing kill streak rewards like an AC-130 or a nuke..a nuke FFS! yeah that really makes it fun to play having the match ended early. Its not too much to ask for one extra game mode and leave the kiddies to play with their comic book perks and kill streaks.

Give me a new Modern Warfare 2 game mode which bans any kind of perk or kill streak being used. Call it something like 'Call of Duty Classic' and return the game to being just a great FPS without the kiddies.

Kotaku are a joke, no real gamer takes them seriously as everyone knows they take every opportunity to have a dig at Sony even through a third party like Famitsu. This has been going on every since they fell out with Sony over leaking news about Playstation HOME. Kotaku lost any credibility they might have had with gamers years ago so its a bit late to be slinging mud now.

I agree with Panda it depends on what kind of game you want. ARMA II, BFBC2 and MW2 all offer slightly different things in the FPS genre.

Its penny pinching under the guise of being a green initiative. I remember when my flight sims - particularly the old Microprose ones came with a nice chunky manual. They were well made and well written and it felt like you got your moneys worth. They died out and the excuse was a green initiative that all games would be published in DVD style boxes and that the manuals would no longer fit. Games never get cheaper but they always manage to cut more value to the customer. Its common that new ...

Apart from the AI I think if they improved the animation it would really take this game to another level. The graphics look great if you have the machine to run it (though you can reduce the level to a point where it even works on my old rig) but as good as the graphics get once you see the troops running like they are all constipated and wearing calipers it spoils the immersion. Also when they are running full tilt and then immediately change angle that looks really unnatural.

The story was ok, nothing special but better than some others. I think it was just a story to show off their game engine by taking it to so many locations.

Those screen shots are nothing short of stunning, another game to add to the list that make me yearn for my next upgrade. They have the graphics nailed, the realism, they really need to work on the AI though as IMO its pretty poor.

Medics are not so much a problem as the recoil on that wepon does require some skill to use though its long range capability could be reduced. I agree about the recon's with the M1911, its too powerful though I don't see the problem with mortars I think the reload time is about right. I definately agree on the anti-air needing improving. Atacama Desert is a nuisance if you get players continually circling your deployment area the AA doesn't fire quick enough before the helicopter has a chance...

What we need to be able to do and what I hope the full version will bring is the ability to make tight chicanes and hairpin bends that make the player have to slow down to negotiate them. I know its an arcade game and its going to be fun but the BETA was all about finding the shortcut whilst keeping the throttle wide open.

5824d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Its a good game but all the tracks in the beta had long flowing corners that meant you could drive the whole track with the accelerator nailed to the floor, there was no finesse or "I just need to slow a little here to take this hairpin" I checked out the track editor and that didn't seem to allow me to put in any sharp corners or sections of track that might challenge a racer so from that perspective it was a little disappointing but maybe that will change in the final game.
