"You can see micro-transaction games, you can see macro-transaction games: we’re going to experiment."
Microsoft -> English translation:
"We're going to try hard at nickel and diming PC gamers like we have XBOX gamers for years"
Microsoft ditched PC gamers years ago to concentrate on their console. All PC gamers have had from Microsoft are the scraps from the XBOX table for the last few years. I'm glad the...
Alienware is just a brand name that people who don't know much about computers will brag about. Even before Dell bought them they were just an overpriced PC in a pretty case.
Years ago they made a fortune out of that stylish case because most DIY cases were still beige or black boxes. With some of the great looking cases from the likes of Coolermaster, Lian Li, Thermaltake etc then you can build a really nice system that will have better specs for less money and will also...
I was on Amazon last night browsing and decided to pre-order myself the Move Starter pack, an extra motion control and two navigation controls, total cost was £115.. Amazon had the navigation controllers down from £24 to £17 and the starter pack was down from £49.99 to £44.91
How can you have an article on Star Wars games without mentioning the PC classics 'X-Wing', 'Tie Fighter' and 'X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter'?
I spent insane amounts of time playing those games and 'X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter' was great fun multiplayer and I remember wishing it allowed more than 8 players but back then I suppose thats all our PC's could handle, imagine what they could do now. I wish they would do a re-make but I doubt it will ever happe...
Thats ridiculous, dedicated servers are not the reason for not having brand new maps.
1-24 is ok, 32 would be nice for larger maps but quite often the larger the maps the less skill involved as more players just means you can hide in a corner and wait for more players to run past you. Sometimes lower player counts make for better games because its more gladitorial, you can get into little vendetta's hunting down a player who's killed you a few times or vice versa but with more players you just get lost in the crowd.
Those Logitech wheels are worth the money, I had the model before it the G25 but now have a Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel and Clubsport Pedals http://www.fanatec.de/html/... It cost around £450 but I play a lot of racing games so for me it was worth it as its much better than my old wheel. The pedals are made of solid aluminium and are fully adjustable and its compatible with my PC, PS3 and 360. I...
Yeah I saw those screens a week ago when I started up TW11. Its great that it will have support from day one for the MOVE controller.
Just installed my copy I picked up on the way home from work. I've played through the tutorial, the graphics are really very good and it has a familiar feel as I've played the Warcraft series. Its Warcraft in space, some might slate it for that but its a tried and tested formula why ruin it like EA did with C&C4.
A nice touch was the two trial cards put in the box so you can have two mates download the game to try it out.
Move support would be good but why do you think that would work if a joypad wouldn't? all you need is one analogue stick and two buttons to mimic the mouse on a PC then the other buttons to bring up menu's that would cover any keyboard shortcuts. You'd still have an analogue spare which could be used just for grouping or even as a four way switch to supply even more commands.
Well I'll be buying SC2 for my gaming PC anyway, I love RTS but I think Halo Wars and Supreme Commander showed how a good control scheme can be done on a joypad. I'd buy it again if it came out on my PS3 or 360 just to play against some of my console only friends.
I'd like to see them branch out and make SC2 for the PS3 or 360.
PS Move definitely, Kinect maybe later but I'm more impressed from what I've seen from Move and can see me using it more often. Kinect's pricing is also a little steep for what it is.
It's just damned addictive, not sure if it would be as much fun on a joypad comparedto my iPhones touch screen but FlightControl and Move would be a lot of fun
Thats quite expensive for what it is. I was planning on buying both motion control systems for my 360 and PS3 but I think I'll go with MOVE for now and maybe buy Kinect at a later date if it gets decent support with maybe a price drop.
As someone who has used head tracking for many years on the PC thanks to various versions of the popular TrackIR system I know it only works properly if you set it up properly.
From the description of the motion given in the article it sounds like they didn't have the camera lined up with the user properly. This happens with my TrackIR if I don't have my seat raised so that the sensor in my TrackIR is not aligned with the vector clip on my baseball cap. It gives you m...
How is it milked? they release a new updated model each year, how many handsets have HTC or RIM released over the last four years? how many Android handsets have launched in the last 12 months? are Google milking it by your definition?
I use my iPhone 4 in my left hand and I don't lose signal. I can make the signal bars drop but it hasn't dropped a phone call. To make the bars drop you have to really hold the phone tightly in an unnatural way so for most its not a pro...
Sony are not competing with Microsoft with laptops so they use Windows on their Vaio line but they would not use a rival's OS for a console. Sony would either go their own way or more likely use Android as they have already spent significant time developing with it for their mobile phones.
Never mind other companies supporting it, its about time Microsoft really got behind Games For Windows Live instead of watching Valve lead the way with Steam. I have no problem with Steam, I'm a happy user of the service but competition is good for pushing innovation.
Its a bad time for anyone to lose their job so I feel sorry for the staff. GAME has expanded rapidly over the last few years and finds itself with too many overlapping stores when they bought Gamestation. I've not always been fond of GAME as I've had a few bad experiences including a heated argument with a manager who refused to exchange my RROD 360 a few years ago at the height of the problem.
GAME expanded rapidly in retail just when digital distribution was star...
