A game running at 60 Hz with drops down to 52 Hz will be 60 Hz in Pro... (as it will be more difficult to keep the drop)
A game running 900p might be running at 1080p
So I would expect BF1
PS4: 900p 55-60Hz
PS4 Pro: 1080p 60Hz
I thought Sony would add an UHD Blu-Ray player to PS4 Pro, but after talking to a audio-video sales person today I understand why they weren't. (Not selling Sony equipment)
* There are very few UHD Blu-Ray titles.
* How to distribute, most CD/DVD/BluRay struggles, renting?
* Streaming, will get lots of titles at convenient distance from the sofa...
The real test of UHD Blu-Ray will be XBox Scorpio, will it include it...
I am...
Always waiting... for some kind of secret sauce... there should be NO need for a Scorpio. Just wait for the cloud!
"a better damage model" - like?
shot in foot - no longer run
shot in arm - no more two handed weapons
shot in head - no more spotting
or?
How many bullets can a human take to the body and continue running?
It is for balance, you need to hit with several shots not just a lucky one.
Before E3 SONY said two things
1. "Neo" exists
2. we will not show it here at E3
multiplayer (64 with destruction), sound (unbeaten), mixed gameplay (on foot, vehicles including flying, on horseback), ...
Not only visuals!
I guess you are just asking for
* Collision detection and FEM simulation for bodies, ball, grass, ...
* Cloth physics simulation, for 22 players, 3 referees, and six flags.
* Aerodynamics simulation for the ball

* AI like real humans, or at least like a five year old.
That shouldn't be dif...
Completely new game engine this year ...
Will change look and feel!
Every component is a bottleneck.
Improving the CPUs, and they will need more memory bandwidth and chip area for CPU cores and its caches (that could have been used by GPU). CPU memory bandwidth costs more than GPU. So increasing CPU performance more than just scaling frequency can very likely give a SYSTEM with lower usable performance. Trust me they know the PS4s shortcommings (actual, by first hand studios and technically advanced third third hand)
Async compute...
GPU is really the best place for running physical calculations ovet and over... Let them update most of the world state, and let the CPU handle user interaction.
You can actually even run some Ai algorithms on GPU...
@343_Guilty_Spark no need to scrap anything (if SONY target a 2016 release)
things that can be done...
* adjust clocks (some PS4 NEO APUs or memory chips will not pass)
* change memory chips (bigger / faster)
* fine tune fans and cooling
But do they have to if they release a year earlier? No, when Scorpio releases SONY will be able to sell with $100 lower price... (the systems they sold up to that point will have paid for development of c...
If you have a 1080p TV (as most do) PS4 is still the better console.
Even with a 4k TV I wouldn't be sure that the image output will be better from a XBox One S than a PS4, as an example with Battlefield one... (PS4 is 900p @60, what will XBox One S be?)
But why should a upscaler on XBox One S (that only upscales content from XBox One) be better than the one on your new 4k TV (that have to upscale almost every source out there)?
Potentially yes, if you got an old or very cheap 4k TV...
Look at the Mass Effect trailer, there is a part that I believe is gameplay (without hud)

Compare with Battlefield 1 - multi player @ 60Hz

If you want a preview of some of the stuff they are making - physical based rendering of different planets...

CGI trailers - yea, Computer Generated Images. Like every computer game ever...
But with all Frostbite games there is no point in using a stand alone tool to make these - all made in Engine...

Why does kind of API matter? Wouldn't any owner run in the API providing the best experience?
DOOM
Nvidia OpenGL (no Vulkan stuttering)
AMD Vulkan
Do that for other games as well - for each game and GPU use what API that works best!
What about price? Assume 50% higher price? (assume one price cut of Neo)
And time? 500% later (Neo release rumoured in 3 months, Scorpio November 2017, i.e. 15 months)

Is it really confirmed that Scorpio will have a UHD BR player?
Yes, actually it is!

I would have kept the option to go without an optical media to save cost...
Do you really buy your games on disk any more?
Do you really buy Blu-Ray films any more?
