@Doopy how come that switch is there in the first place? Why does not all 1990 games have a switch to upgrade graphic to todays standard?
That switch is programmed to be there, all those combinations has to be tested in one way or another.
Just consider the few options PS4 pro games have had and all the issues related.
- best graphics while keeping 30Hz - what if you drop to 25Hz in a few sections?
- performance, best graphics keeping 60...

But it can't get better than the in game assets.
Game is being built for the X1 with textures and polygons to match its maximum.
Adding more than maximum and the game will have issues on original X1.
X1s raising the bar a little is OK, there have to be more data than rendered. Players sometimes move closer than expected to objects...

I hope third party studios have access to prototype hardware (beta SOC) right now but my gut feeling is that they do not. They probably have access to PCs with hardware said to equal Scorpio performance.

Scorpio was announced 18 moths before expected release.
18 months from now is 2018 E3 - a very possible announcement date for PS5.
18 months further is Holidays 2019 - probably earliest actual release date.
Depends on how well PS4 Pro will do against Scorpio, if Scorpio begins to sell better than PS4 Pro I think we will see a 2019 release! Price v. performance matters a lot, and I don't think Scorpio can be much more expensive than PS4 Pro an...
