If it had been someone else other than a Microsoft to say it there wouldn't be as much vitriol as there is here. Express an opinion contrary to the hordes and you're attacked and criticized.

So what if some people don't like surfing the web on a feature-limited console browser using a controller for input. Obviously we're stupid. Taking 5 minutes to type in a URL with my controller is the best experience ever! I get to press different buttons to go between uppercase and lowercas...

I never use console browsers because I think the experience is poor compared to my laptop. Youtube videos on a 1080p screen tend to be pixelated and awful.

Some like it and more power to you. I don't see any value in it.

It's really cool stuff, but I don't get your analogies. My personal opinion is that when the price is right people will buy it like crazy. But I still think that it will be a niche market simply because people aren't going to want to wear the glasses all the time.

No. But having the ability didn't hurt anything, either.

I have an 8GB thumb drive with Microsoft's logo on it that I received at a developer event. I wonder how this one is different?

Only a fool would wait on this guy for custom firmware.

What was the primary reason I bought my PS3? I didn't have a primary reason, I had many reasons. I bought it for Blu-ray movies, games (backward compatibility was huge for me) and the ability to tinker with the hardware. I'm running Ubuntu on my OtherOS partition.

I'm not crying or whining. I'm just one of the vocal minority that actually use the feature and don't want to see it go away because I enjoy it.

And just so you know, I'm also into XNA development for the P...

Agreed. No need for an article to pop up about the Amazon top spot every time it changes. We all know that the PS3 is selling well.

I hope so. Because the feature is cool, even if relatively underused.

If it were just about Linux then it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I could run Linux on my phone.

It's the opportunities afforded by being able to work with what hardware Sony did make available and pushing the machine to do things that it wasn't necessarily designed for that made the feature worthwhile.

It's a shame that people are so narrow-minded on this. More functionality is always better than less.

There are die-hard's that are going to defend Sony's decision here to the end, but I know exactly what you're talking about. It's the same reason I bought the Linux kit for the PS2. I thought it was really cool that Sony would at least allow a crack at simple development on the machine, even if it was extremely limited. There was a huge opportunity to build a developer community around the machine, but now that opportunity is gone.

I don't know. I feel that since GeoHot actually ...

I find it amazing how different things are now. When the PS3 launched we had Sony playing it up and tons of people talking about "desktop supercomputer" and how they were going to be using their PS3's as a Linux desktop and that Microsoft was going down in flames from lost Windows revenue, etc.

Now when Sony says they're pulling the feature out people are talking about how it is a useless feature and nothing of value will be lost. Which is it?

Personally I ...

Have to disagree with the article. I see tons of comments on this site and on others where people are excited about going for a platinum trophy in a game or getting that last achievement. Being good at a game is very personally satisfying.

And "here are 10 ways" and he provides a 15 item list?

So people complain when Microsoft doesn't copy Sony just as much as they complain when Microsoft does copy Sony. I find it very interesting. Personally I think that an expectation that Sony and Microsoft will play tit-for-tat with software releases is silly.

Probably not. But lack of proof doesn't seem to stop anyone from passing judgment on Ninja Theory.

I don't know about anyone else, but since November 2005 I've only purchased one Xbox 360.

Yeah, they have to do what it takes to keep the lights on. Exclusives made these days are setting the scene on fire. I haven't seen the current level of quality in such a long time. It's been fantastic!

The folks comparing Ninja Theory to studios like Naughty Dog and Zipper need to remember that Sony owns and bankrolls those guys. Ninja Theory took a chance on Heavenly Sword and it didn't quite pay off for them, but at least they're still in the game, even though it means multi-p...

I thought that Heavenly Sword was a fantastic experience, particularly when it was released so early in the PS3's lifecycle. I'd like to see Ninja Theory be able to do more with the IP.

Way to take my comment out of context. I never said they needed to update their existing PS3's. But it may prevent other agencies from purchasing second-hand PS3's to build out their grids because they're not going to know which version of the firmware is installed.
