God of War will move some hardware. It's a genre that we don't see a lot of new titles releasing for these days, and people have been waiting a long time for this.
The people who would have purchased a PS3 for this game will still buy a PS3 for this game. They'll buy it when the consoles are available. So deferred sales, maybe. But probably not lost sales.
Are they really lost sales? Because I would think that people who would buy a PS3 for this game will still buy the game when more PS3's are available. Gamers have waited this long, they'll wait a little longer.
@Nitrowolf2
I must respectfully disagree. Sales do mean a lot to us as gamers. A studio's future can be determined by the sales of its last game. If it is a studio that traditionally makes good games it could only take dropping the ball one time for one of our favorite franchises to see its last iteration.

Fantastic numbers!
They could tell from the pixels and having seen a few PS3 videos in their day.
Um, that really doesn't make any sense.
Actually, most consoles that came before the PS2 did get a downsizing at some point in their lifetime. The PS3 doesn't actually have the word "slim" on the box, does it?
Also, I don't think that there really is much of a difference between an achievement and a trophy when it comes right down to it. They're both pretty much there for the same reason.
For $150 I would replace mine. But it would have to have an HDD and WiFi. I paid $400 for mine 4 years ago and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. In that time I've had one RROD, but it was a quick fix and I was back in business.
But for reduced power consumption and drive noise I think it would be worth it to buy a new one. A smaller unit with smaller chips would be more energy efficient and would create less heat, so the chance of an RROD type problem caused by heat would be reduced. ...
I bet someone from Sony's marketing team does read popular internet forums to see what feedback they can get. They may not post and tell us they're here, but I'm sure someone is looking in from time to time.
I agree with your list.
I wonder why cross-game chat is such a heavily desired feature? Maybe I don't get it because I'm riddled with ADD and wouldn't be able to concentrate on what I'm doing if I'm trying to keep up with a casual conversation while playing a game. But others may be more efficient multi-taskers than I am.
I can certainly understand your point of view and you state some very compelling reasons. I guess what I can take away from it is that folks do indeed see this thing in different ways.
I kind of do think that if a person only has one console then to that person exclusivity is a relative term. Sure, they're limited to the exclusives they can play, but they're also limited to what version of multi-plat games they can play. To them the only version of a multi-plat they really matter...
There's always got to be some amount of lag. I don't know how it could possibly register movement at exactly the same time the user moves. Either Move or Natal. But if it is under half a second or so can the human brain really register it?
Yeah, Move or Natal would have to have some pretty impressive software out there to get me to spend money on either. I'm not convinced that anyone is going to be completely successful at mastering this control paradigm.
Thanks for the positive feedback. Even though I'm in the middle of Heavy Rain and Mass Effect 2 right now I think I'm going to bite the bullet and pick this one up. It's a toss-up between this and Final Fantasy XIII. I think this is the better choice since I'm already playing an RPG. That's why I haven't picked up Final Fantasy yet.
Have to agree with you that the PS3 is absolutely burying us with exclusive IP's. 2009 rolled around and the floodgates opened. I'm loving it.
Maybe it's just semantics, but PC is a platform, as is Wii, PS3 and 360. But PC is not a console. Console has a connotation of something where the specifications are fixed and can't really change.
It's just my opinion, but I'm not too keen on the "if it's on PC it isn't exclusive" argument. There's the weird sort of console exclusive argument where there are games on PC and PS3, but not 360 and games on PC and 360 but not PS3. But how many people actually do get the gam...
I remember when I was younger and quite often we had to make a judgment about the quality of the game from the box that it was in. There wasn't a place you could really go for reviews because nobody took games this seriously. Games used to tell you something about the story right on the back of the box and that's what you used to make your decision.
It was this way pretty much up until the SNES released and people started trying to make a living through games journalism. I had su...
