Makes me think back to all of the people who were going to toss their PC's and use the PS3 as their desktop PC because it had the power to run Linux. I don't know if this is true or not, but it would suck if you were using your PS3 as a Linux desktop and they took the ability away.
I guess we'll see.
I remember when Heavenly Sword came out I put the game in and was greeted with a message that I had to upgrade to a certain version of the firmware in order to play it. And for every required firmware update you can't use PSN until you update. There really is no choice.
I guess it remains to be seen whether this is true or not, but April 1st is a Thursday and Sony likes to push on Thursdays. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Agreed.
I'll never use the game room. No sense even downloading it.
There's no way those two games are going to retail for $100.
Good. I'd love a sweet new console!
$99 Xbox 360? I'd get one for the convenience of HDMI. Right now my Wii and 360 are sharing a component input with a selector switch.
Caveat emptor.
You should always know what you're buying before you buy it.
Well, considering 3DO was supposed to be the future of video games I'm not sure I'd really take good old Trip's advice. I remember playing the FMV games on the demo model at Sears. Yeah, that really lasted.
I grabbed Uncharted 2 on day 1 but I've never played the online multiplayer. Is it still active?
I love my iPod Touch for music (and movies, too). But my PSP blows it away when it comes to games. There's nothing like the tactile experience of pressing buttons and manipulating the joypad. None of Apple's mobile products can touch that, to use the pun.
Exactly. Nobody cares how well everyone else's console is still working when theirs breaks.
Think that's any comfort to someone when theirs breaks? "Well, at least it wasn't an Xbox 360!"
Whatever.
I hope that the folks that get this game enjoy it tremendously. I never did find Gran Turismo fun, but that's because I'm more of a fan of Burnout-style arcade racers. I can see where it might define the future of driving simulators.
The thing that gets games like this torn down are articles like the one here. "Greatest" and "favorite" and "best" are all subjective terms when it comes to entertainment media. Different people have different tastes, so naturally there is going to be disagreement when it comes to what's best.
In my opinion Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are fantastic games that I'm glad I get to experience. I don't think Uncharted is the greatest game ever. In my opinio...
Heavy Rain tells a good story, too.
I like Uncharted 2 a lot. I like the first one a lot. It's not my favorite PS3 game, but I do like it a lot.
I'd just pay to get my 60GB repaired. It would be worth the extra money to me for the BC. We use it all the time.
I like all of the "mine still works so this story is bogus" comments. It's funny. Heard the same stuff while RROD was still a problem. I said that, too. Until I got RROD. But Microsoft fixed it up for free and I kept going.
I bought my 60GB PS3 3 years ago and it's still working fine. Even if Sony extended the warranty to 3 years it wouldn't make any difference to me if mine breaks. My fixed RROD 360 is still going strong 3 years after it was repaired, so I'm good ther...
Universities and other agencies use it all the time to build networks to process massive amounts of data. They were buying PS3's because they were cheaper and more powerful than basic commodity hardware. Essentially Sony was subsidizing their research by selling the hardware at a loss. I can easily see Sony losing millions of dollars to sales such as these.
TL;DR: I think if it is true that hacking is only part of the reason. Their purchase for supercomputing grids is likely anot...
