What's funny is that all of the visuals are HD resolutions on both PS3 and 360 by the time they hit the screen. I don't know a single person that plays games straight out of the framebuffer, but the morons here argue like it really matters.
I don't think that muliplatform engines to any games justice. They hold every console back. The PS3 and 360 are both capable of pushing some awesome visuals and solid gaming experiences, but the best games are those explicitly made for the platform that they're running on.
The PS3 isn't out if stock. If it were there wouldn't have been 318K of them sold last month. Sony says it's supply constrained, but not completely unavailable. If it were out of stock then none would have been sold.
You know, this is something that inevitably always happens in these NPD threads. You see "America is not the world!" when the 360 outperforms the PS3 in North America.
Now, in the Media Create threads where the Xbox 360 consistently receives lower numbers and countless comments about how it is getting killed or is already dead there, you never see anyone talk about how Japan is not the world. Why is that? Why does that phrase only get uttered when the 360 is ahead of th...
I saw a comment like that in the NeoGaf NPD thread a few hours ago, so there are a few folks thinking that way.
I would think a 60hz signal on a 200hz would experience some level of studder since the math is wrong. 240hz would make more sense to me. Not saying you're wrong, I just find it ironic that it would be smooth without some really awesome filtering.
You have a point there.
This story sure has hit the front page quite a few times.
I don't think either of us implied that. Shortages aren't always something that can be controlled. It's just unfortunate that the shortages hit at the same time as major releases.
Yeah, I get what you guys are saying. It makes sense to try to maximize profits where they can. I just don't know that it makes a lot of sense.
I don't agree that the conversion from dollars to euros is a loss on software, though. Because the cost of materials is practically nothing, so it doesn't make more sense to produce more discs for Europe than the US unless there's a higher demand there.
Also, they might not make as much off of an individual US software sale...
Yeah, of all the months to be in short supply it was when two of the most anticipated games of the entire generation released. Hopefully those games can continue to drive demand. A lot of gamers move on to the next thing pretty quickly, though.
I wasn't surprised to see the PS3 version of FF XIII outsell the 360 version. People with both 360 and PS3 would be crazy to not buy the PS3 version. I think the numbers show how many 360-only owners who were interested bought the game, which is interesting to me.
I'm not surprised that GOW III did as well as it did. I think people were craving an experience like that. It'll be interesting to see whether the demand stays high since Sony said they were having hardware shortages. A...
Very good numbers all around. Nobody's dead and we're getting awesome games.
NDS is a beast! Wow!
I don't know think it's holding back supply in the US to keep from losing money. Hardware isn't where the money is, anyway. The real golden egg is software sales, not hardware sales.
If the PS3 is really selling more units in other parts of the world than they are in US then it would make sense for them to subsidize US losses with profits from other countries. The US is a very big market to cut yourself out of.
This is all marketing/PR speak. The PS2 was the first system that I used motion control on with the Eye Toy. It really was a mediocre experience, but the little kids loved Eye Toy Play and washing those windows.
Motion control as we know it today, no. Sony didn't usher that in. But they stand a chance to redefine it with Move. The PSEye for PS3 didn't really have anything going for it until Move came along.
I couldn't play Ready 2 Rumble on my Dreamcast. I know that I tried a half-dozen copies and every single one of them would freeze when I started a match. It was so disappointing.
I agree. This console was so full of win and it died way too soon. For me it completely captured the essence of Sega since the games on Dreamcast felt just like the games Sega was releasing in the arcade. I still play mine regularly. I need a new controller.
Yep, that's the one. Couldn't resist the deal on it.
There doesn't seem to be any rush since there really isn't going to be that much 3D content available anyway. Even Avatar isn't going to be available in 3D until 2011, although I will be picking up my non Blu-ray copy next Tuesday.
I wonder if Samsung will somehow be able to give my 46" B6000 model 3D support via firmware update? They could have an IR transmitter for the glasses that attaches to the USB port or something. Maybe. I hope. Because I sure don't want to buy a ne...
The inevitable rebuttal argument. Nice.
