Doing this will fix the game. On many levels.
That's pretty pricey.
I wonder if the 80gb model is going to be one of those "until it's gone" deals like the 60gb model?
At least it wasn't a big problem. I'm just curious as to which version is going to be better. That's the one I'll buy.
I find it hard to believe that Home is going to be something that actually moves much hardware. How many of you would pay $400 to get something that essentially equates to Second Life? It isn't a bad bonus feature, and some people really like online networking. But I can't see Home being as compelling as many are making it out to be.
I think that initially it will be a fad, but ultimately it isn't going to be a feature that is going to last. I want to play games, not wander aro...
I don't believe for a minute that Blu-Ray was put into the PS3 to make games better. Blu-Ray was put into the PS3 so that Sony could build an install base for Blu-Ray faster. In its first year there really have not been any titles released for the PS3 that could not have been done on the 360. The reality is that for most titles out there the 360 runs them better.
Blu-Ray will be a benefit in the long run. But don't expect more content just because there is more space. The more ...
I've been waiting forever for a game like this. I've played the demo over and over and it is so good. The gameplay is dead-on and the graphics are some of the most fluid that I've seen on a next-gen machine yet. They even found a good, non-gimmicky use for the Sixaxis functionality.
To everyone saying that one platform or the other is dead, you all should just stop it. It takes more than one title to make or break a console and so far the 360's head start means that it has more...
Apple isn't a niche market for no reason. The iPod is the only Apple product that has ever had true mass-market appeal. Games aren't a boutique hobby.
@1.1 - Cancel a 50,000+ gamerscore account? Gamerscore doesn't have anything to do with whether you pay for Xbox Live or not. Apparently you don't know much about how Xbox Live works.
The only thing the fee goes toward from a single consumer standpoint is online play. The benefit for everyone is that the platform and infrastructure remain solid. I have a 360 and a PS3 and Xbox Live is the better platform to me.
@1.1 - Nintendo lost the lead in the market with the PS1. The N64 never approached the PlayStation. Part of that was because Nintendo felt that they were the thought leaders and would continue to set the pace. Their bad design decision to use a cartrige-based format killed the N64 before it ever really left the gate. I'm not talking about the power of the hardware as much as I am the approach to the market. Sony knew that they were the underdog with the PlayStation and that's the mentality th...
It's just what you're saying. The most "graphically enhanced" is true and I agree with it. What I'm wondering is if it is going to play like every other shooter out there? What compelling GAMEPLAY enhancements are they making?
It can look pristine, but if the gameplay isn't as good what is it going to matter. How does it play?
What's ironic about these stupid arguments is that the only reason the PS3 has a great 2008 lineup is that all of the best games slipped from a holiday 2007 release target. Q1 traditionally has no great games releasing.
Don't you think that if MGS4 could have been ready that it would have sold even better for the holiday? It doesn't make any sense to hype 2008 in holiday 2007. All that does is convince people that there's no sense in buying until 2008.
I'm beting that Crysis isn't going to be able to live up to the "this could only be done on PC" hype.
You're certainly right. It took Sony 3 generations to get a rock-solid console into the market. Both of the previous generations of PlayStation had problems with their disc drives. The original Xbox had DRE's as well. Sony already learned the lesson that Microsoft is learning now. I bet the next Xbox is going to be as solid as the PS3 is now.
Looks great. But is it just another shooter?
I'm ok no matter which way it goes.
This is going to hurt someone's feelings.
It does tell me that my beloved PS3 may not be the powerhouse that its older brothers turned out to be. I'm sure it won't be a flop and tens of millions will sell. But all of the changes that the PS3 has gone through in its first year show that Sony does not have a command of the market like they did in previous generations.
It took one generation for Sony to overcome Nintendo. That's all it could take for anyone.
Since when does upscaled vs. not upscaled make a difference in how fun the game is? The majority of people playing it aren't going to be able to play at 1080p anyway. I guess if there's nothing else to complain about...
There's more to this than price. Ultimately it takes games. But Sony's finally gotten the ball rolling on software, so I expect great things. I think the market has already proven that $399 is a sweet spot for people to buy if there are games available to play.
It's time for fame to become infamy. Bring it on.
