Countless chips? The CPU has gone through one reduction and now the GPU has gone through one with Jasper. It's not that hard to count to two for most people. There have been 5 motherboard revisions so far, which is normal. The PS3 has enjoyed more hardware configurations that the 360 has at this point.
I've been thinking of buying an Arcade 360 to get the benefit of HDMI that my previously RROD'd box doesn't have, so if I get the added reduced power consumption of the Jasper then all the better.
Did you really fall for that 10 year lifecycle stuff? The last 3-4 years of that 10 year cycle are going to be just like the last 3-4 years of the PS1 and PS2 lifecycle where it lives as a budget contender.
If Sony's going to stay in the game they're going to be releasing new hardware 6-7 years after the PS3 launch because the competition is going to be releasing hardware that makes it show it's age.

Agreed. The timing aspect adds to the challenge of the game. It makes it tough, if not impossible, to do everything in a single playthrough. At least you get to keep your stats when you restart.
Yet the PS3 is still in last place. 2008 may have been a good year for Sony as far as games go, but the PS3 has hardly gained any ground in the big picture. Nintendo continues to eat market share from both Microsoft and Sony, and right now about the best either company can aspire to is second place.

I don't think that it would surprise anyone to see the PS3 ultimately overtake the 360 in unit sales, but it will be later rather than sooner. It doesn't matter if the PS3 has sold more units in 2008. If the numbers stay like they have been in 2008 PS3 will gain some ground, but it won't overtake the 360 in 2009. That's why a price cut is necessary.

I've found that quite often Gamestop is inconsistent on their used games pricing. Just today I saw Kingdom Hearts II for $19.99, $17.99 and $14.99. If you find that situation in the store typically they'll sell you the used game for 10% off the cost of a new one or whatever is marked on lowest-priced copy.
I almost never finish the games I buy, so I must not have that basic urge to conquer.
I saw a Wii knockoff in a discount store for $35 this week. It boasted 16-bit graphics and stereo sound! I almost bought it, but then I remembered that I already had a Wii.
The game that you get is free with the $50 you pay for Live Gold. It really sounds like you're trying to make it sound like the game itself costs $50, but you know as well as I do that the game isn't what the consumer is paying for. Since Live costs $50 with or without the game, it only stands to reason that the game is free when you buy Live.

I use my PS3 has my primary multimedia machine. Ever since I discovered the magic that is HDMI and the ability to upscale DVD over it I've been extremely happy with the big black box. I enjoy the picture and sound quality of Blu-Ray. It's an awesome.
It probably went unnoticed because they forgot to tell anyone it was coming out. I didn't know it had been released until I saw it in the store last weekend.
It's good that they did that, because I'm sure that nobody's ever seen anyone with a missing appendage before. You just don't see that in real life.

Microsoft will remove your credit card information if you call them. They won't want to do it. It takes forever and you have to get pretty ticked off. But eventually they will do it. I'm a Microsoft credit card removal survivor. And they didn't say they needed to suspend anything. Immediately after I got off the phone my account information said that my credit card was expired.
