This has to be the most poorly written article I've read in a long time. But I guess it makes sense that someone ranting on like that wouldn't take time to make sure that the things that he's writing make sense.

I love the lists that show all of the stuff you "must" buy with a 360, and it's always more expensive than the PS3. "This list is simply the bare necessities needed to experience both consoles the way they were intended to be experienced. As you can see, th...

Being in beta doesn't give anything a pass. Once you let people use your software you're in production, no matter what tags you put on it.

lol @ using HipHopGamerShow as a credible source for anything. If Sony were making $100 per console then they would have dropped the price to increase adoption. Why do you think they haven't dropped the price?

It's going to take forever to close a several million unit sales gap with only 102k or so difference overall. And there's still a month to go in 2008. If December is anything like November then that number could quickly disappear.

So how far ahead of the PS3 does the 360 need to be for it to be firmly in second place and not struggling? Because based on the numbers I don't see being several million units ahead as struggling to hang on.

Sony's really taken a beating in the press this week. I'm sure that they'll weather this storm and get straight.

People around here don't want to admit it. They blindly click disagree and pop bubbles over it. But the PS3's price is somewhat holding it back. So far the November numbers prove that. Once we see what Europe did then we'll have the complete picture. In this economy, if value were more of a consideration than price then Microsoft wouldn't have sold more than twice as ...

Interesting opinion piece.

Killer Instinct would be good, but I'd really just like to have a great fighter. I don't care what it is.

Nobody knows the future. But right now I enjoy my PS3.

The past is a different story, however. People comparing the 360 to the Dreamcast are ignorant. The 360 has been out for twice as long as the Dreamcast lived and it has sold 2.5 times the number of units. Plus, Microsoft isn't going to run out of money like Sega did. It really is a stupid comparison.

Sony has found themselves in a situation they've never been in before. Microsoft is doing better than anyone gave...

People expect home to be something awesome, because that's what everyone has been hyping it up to be. But the reality is that Home is a pretty world with nothing compelling to do. You may have come to depend on it, but I don't understand how since it really doesn't offer much of value other than a place to aimlessly meander and watch pathetic losers hit on virtual girls.

But if you think it's a necessity then that's your thing. Nobody's stopping you. Enjoy.

Ouch.

I guess it's ok to comfort yourself by saying that as long as the PSP and PS2 are making money that everything's ok. But when a legacy platform is selling nearly as much as the premium platform that's never a good thing. As long as Sony relies on the PS2 and uses it to subsidize the losses on the PS3 the company is going to have adoption issues with the PS3.

The truth of the situation is that the PSP doesn't directly compete with the Wii and the 360 and the PS2 is nearing its su...

Japan isn't going to pick up the slack for anything in the home console market. This generation of consoles is a non-starter there in favor of handhelds.

Japan doesn't dictate anything these days. Europe and North America are where all of the console action is.

I've been in the closed beta for a while, so I can understand why people would disparage it. Unless they have no life at all I think that the majority of people aren't going to spend the time that they have to play video games standing around socializing in an online world. If they did they'd be in some chat room or off playing Second Life or off planning their next raid in some MMO.

Home is going to be prone to the same problems that are causing Second Life to decline and caused...

I'm glad to see LBP reach this milestone. I have the game and I enjoy the user-created content. It didn't flop, but you do have to admit that the game didn't live up to the hype that many people here buried it under. It didn't revolutionize gaming like many proclaimed it would. It didn't cause a surge in hardware sales like many predicted it would. It just sort of came and went and people in general were underwhelmed.

It's a really good game deserving of its scores. But the hones...

I think that it's interesting that so many folks are saying that the only reason the 360 did so well is because of the $199 price point being $200 less than PS3, but many of those same people are those who said nobody would buy an Arcade system. I wish that Microsoft would break down that number into Arcade, Pro and Elite numbers so we can see where the most sales come from.

I paid $499 for my 60GB PS3, so I'm not about to make a judgment call on what people are willing to pay f...

Better machines don't always cost more. But over-engineered ones tend to, and I'm starting to wonder. I remember when the PlayStation hit the market. Sony came in hot at $299 and the Sega Saturn was at $399. Sega couldn't afford to drop the price, so they bundled games to make it a better "value" to gamers. We all know how that that turned out. Value for the money quickly evaporates when the competition sells for 25% to 50% less.

I'm not saying that the PS3 is that way,...
