It's a poor craftsman who blames his tools. Free Radical is in the position that they are in because they made a game that couldn't live up to the hype. Haze didn't deliver on its potential.
I agree with the blog entry. As a career software developer I've been in the same position he speaks of. I've had to learn new technologies in a weekend to be able to do my job and do it effectively. Free Radical is responsible for what they produce.
My 60GB PS3 is used practically every day. I've had it for a year and a half. If it stops working I'll just pay Sony $150 to fix it and go on with my life.
I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2 and Infamous.
Home is probably going to be one huge advertisement full of micro-transactions. That's where it's going already. I've been in the closed beta (which had a much better Central Plaza, IMO) and there wasn't a lot to do. Now that it is open there are game-specific spaces, which are kind of cool, and pay-for-download add-ons that are not.
I'm hopeful for the future of the service, so we'll see how it goes.
I'm hopeful for 2009. Aside from a few rare gems 2008 was yet again the year of the shooter. Here's to hoping for more variety in 2009!
It wouldn't have cost the guy anything if he'd just kept his mouth shut. And I'm not sure how someone is going to find you by your gamertag, unless you made it your address or something. Never mind he could have just made a new gamertag and abandoned the old one if he was serious about it. Microsoft will let you transfer Xbox Live to a different account. That's one of the things they try to get you to do when you want to cancel the service.
That means more games in the future. Sounds good to me.
Some people really like Home. I'm not one of those people, but that's ok. Sometimes I'll go meander about for a little while, watching the male avatars chase the female avatars around, but I usually don't stay long.
Home has potential, but it isn't there yet.
Looks like a trip to Circuit City is in order.
It's a good game and it's good that more people are playing it.
If anything Bioshock is going to release across all platforms at the same time so that sales can be maximized. I hear lots of stuff on the internet, too. But that doesn't mean that it's behind the scenes information.
Party chat really helps to weed out the general idiots that everyone complains about. I'm guessing that this guy is one of those idiots and he's upset that people can't hear him as easily.
Then why don't you delete them from your friends list? Are you one of those people that prides himself on having a massive list of friends that you don't know and never play online with?
What a short-sighted article. Personally I think that Netflix HD and sales of optical media serve two different markets. Collectors won't pay for downloads, and they certainly don't want to continue to pay into the future.
Blockbuster should be worried, but not Blu-ray.
And every single one of them was full of people defending the PS3 by attacking Microsoft. PS3 is definitely the more popular platform here.
Glad it hasn't happened to me.
Lots of Sony news this week.
If there's a crash do you know how many games we're gonna be able to pick up on the cheap?
