It's not out because nobody is going to buy a new TV for it, especially if they have to wear 3D glasses to see it it. It's totally a gimmick, and one that's been done before. Heck, Rad Racer on the NES was 3D and you had to wear 3D glasses to see the effect. It was cool for about 5 minutes, then you turned off the 3D and played it normally.
This is only a gimmick, anyway. Who is going to buy a new TV just to sit in front of it wearing 3D glasses? It's completely lame.
You don't know your gaming history if you think that was the first console war. I remember when Intellivision gamers were lording it over 2600 owners. And Colecovision was putting them both to shame (at least graphically).
Wow, I was 23 when it came out. I remember getting a new Atari 2600 for Christmas. And that wasn't even my first console, just my first new one.
PlayStation was a revolution in home gaming. So many lost hours with Tekken, Ridge Racer, Wipeout and Twisted Metal. And Jet Moto! I loved Jet Moto!
Me, too. I don't see any reason to upgrade just for the sake of it. Not when mine is fine as-is. But if it ever bites the dust then I'll replace it with the slim. Seeing as that's the only version that's really available.
It's probably best to just let it go, man. Just let it go.
Most of the time the problems with online play in games come down to how well the developer has implemented it, not the underlying network. Some games make me want to gouge out my eyes because it is so frustrating to get online and find a game. Others, like Burnout Paradise, just slide right into online mode with no problems. And it does so on both 360 and PS3.
Gosh, enough with the "hardcore" crap. What does that even mean, anyway?
I've played online with both. The only real difference in the experience for me is that there are fewer people on PSN with voice. The actual experience is pretty much the same once you're in-game.
The reboot of the PlayStation brand was a good idea.
I like the new design as well. The font was never an issue with me, but the original art design was a lot more cluttered.
Doesn't it really depend on the game more than the system? Honestly?
Nothing brings out the experts like an article like this.
I was digging around and there are actually 3 different fonts to choose from. The third one was rather small, in my opinion. So yeah, font sizes aren't really something to get worked up over.
I updated last night. I'm pretty ambivalent about the changes, really. I'm surprised that none of the "I'm so hardcore!" crowd is complaining about the sparkles and confetti that Sony added to the XMB. I suppose that sparkles and confetti make the machine that much more "hardcore" in some people's eyes. But I digress.
Overall it's nothing to get that excited over. It seems more about re-branding than anything else.
Multi-console owner here, too. I have all 3 from the current generation, all 4 from the previous generation (RIP Dreamcast), and several from the generation before that.
It's sad how showing support for a product you own and actually do support gets you nailed to the wall around here.
You say that trolling is for kids, yet your post is definitely trolling. Fascinating. Were you trying to be ironic?
I find it extremely interesting that some of the same people making a big deal about the PS3 Slim being in the top slot on Amazon.com are now the same ones that call the submission of this article "desperate" and "grasping at straws" and a bunch of other adjectives.
The truth of the matter is that the Amazon.com sales charts are not the end-all-be-all indicator of what people are buying. It's just one internet marketplace that competes other online and brick-a...
At least they gave us sparkles and confetti on the XMB. What other company is offering that?
