Reads Saaking's post, looks at Sony's history of PS3 price cuts from $599 to $499 to $399 to $299 (along with loss of features at pretty much every step of the way), and shakes head at the irony of the statement of Microsoft having to cut price to get sales.
It's one thing to troll with flamebait. But that's just another thing entirely.
I was thinking that Lair was a good candidate, at least amongst the fanboys. "Just wait until Lair comes out! It's going to kill the competition!!1!" Heh, I get a chuckle just thinking about it.
Good for a chuckle. Bubbles, my friend.
Wow, looking at the heavy amount of moderation in this thread this is a touchy subject for a lot of people. Not sure why. I guess people feel really strongly about the brutal battle for second place.
More consoles out there means more and better games down the road. We all win.
Yes, as long as it bashes something.
And once again, Modern Warfare 2 is multi-platform. Killzone 2 is a great-looking game. But it isn't genre-defining. I think the "blind fanboy" angle is defending that game to the end as people seem to be doing.
Please. Modern Warfare 2 easily looks as good in motion as Killzone 2, if not better. I've seen both first hand and that's my opinion at least. And Modern Warfare is multi-plat. I will say that I haven't seen anything as graphically impressive on 360 as Uncharted 2 is on PS3. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it is impossible. It only means at most that it just hasn't happened yet. I will say that from what I've seen Bioware is going to give Uncharted 2 a run for its money with Mass Effe...
Let the marketing buzz begin. I don't see why anyone would be upset for Sony saying something like this. That's what they do to build hype for the game. I'm sure Microsoft will be issuing PR saying similar things for Halo Reach or any other 360 console exclusive.
It isn't lying to say that God of War III could only be done on PlayStation since Sony owns the license. But based on the E3 demo what was done to that point certainly would have been technically possible on 360.
You're right, my friend. The console the game is on doesn't make any difference when it comes to how enjoyable a game is. I think it makes sense to discuss the merits of the games as opposed to the underlying hardware, because hardware alone doesn't make games enjoyable.
Seems more to me like it's just Kojima's arrogance bubbling to the surface. He's a talented man, but he's not very humble. MGS4 is in my library, but I can say with certainty that it is not what I would consider the gold standard for games on the PS3.
The only thing that seems to be maxed is the creativity of developers who say that the current hardware is maxed. All of the current hardware, Wii included, is capable of producing fantastic experiences if the developers are inclined to create them. Look at Uncharted 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Heck, look at MW2. I'm not a fan of the game, but it is one of the cleanest and smoothest games I've seen in a while, and it runs on more than one platform.
I hope that nobody puts stock i...
You can get a Blu-ray burner for about $150 and 25 GB media for less than $7. 3 or 4 games and it's paid for. I don't condone it, but it is now cost effective. To save money people can wait a week for a torrent to download.
How is it even related? MW2 is also on PS3.
This game looks great as is. Tons of fun.
I agree. This game is just pure fun, and the little details are great to see. Like how the environments and enemies are in touch with the music.
The game has been terribly difficult to find over the holidays. I went to 7 stores before I found a copy and I got one of the two they had left.
Sonic the Hedgehog has found new and impressive ways to raise the bar on sucking in this generation. Grand Theft Auto was mediocre in my opinion. I still like GTA III the best. Ridge Racer has improved visually but the quality has remained about the same. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is just a blast! I still chuckle every time the koopas dance.
Many of the games affected here aren't being produced any more. Where people will get screwed over is in the used aftermarket.
This is a problem with dedicated servers in general. Sure, dedicated servers provide better stability in most cases. But they are expensive to maintain. So when it is no longer cost effective to maintain a dedicated server cluster for a game the servers will go away.
I'm going to be upset the day the Burnout Paradise servers go offline. I still play that regularly. But I've had my fun. I'll deal with it. And there's still single player.
It's interesting to see so many say that the game runs smoothly until they get kicked out. I understand it's a beta. Too bad a lot of people base their impressions on what happens at the demo stage.
You're exactly right, my friend. I don't see why so many look at this as a case where total domination is required. There are enough units out there of every console to ensure a steady flow of games for years to come, and that's the only thing that matters.
Bubbles for the rational, well-thought out post.
