There are at least a half-dozen people here who profess to having 3 or more dead Xbox consoles at home. Apparently they never learned that it is cheaper to have one repaired than to buy a new one. Either that or they're just not telling the truth. It could be that they have modified them in some way and can't have them repaired. If that's the case then let them pile up the dead boxes.
That's an interesting way to try to justify your point of view, and a rather immature one in my opinion. But I digress. If you limit yourself to only the PS3 then you might as well cut off one of your arms. Because that's how handicapped you're going to be as a gamer.
Which console a person chooses has to do with someone's personal preference, not their maturity level. You buy what appeals to you, not what the herd tells you to buy. I bought all three and I get to play whatever ...
What I find funny is that so many people are saying that for Microsoft Xbox 360 to continue to be viable that they have to adopt the technologies that Sony has incorporated into the PS3. The 360 is in its 5th year and has continued to put forth strong sales, even with the severe dearth of great exclusives in 2009. Microsoft has proven that they do not need Blu-ray to produce a quality gaming experience.
I understand the frustration that one can feel when things don't go as one ho...
My personal feeling on 3D is that it isn't going to be as big as hoped, but it will enjoy moderate success as a niche market. I know that I have no desire to have to sit in front of my TV with special glasses. And if they don't fit over my regular glasses then the whole thing is useless to me.
But I understand that some folks are excited about this and are looking forward to it. I hope that they enjoy it when it is available.
The PSOne had a 100 million+ install base, but you don't see them on shelves any more. It might just be time to start sunsetting the current model and bring out something new.
As far as the PSPGo is concerned, Sony didn't deliver the same amount of content that is currently available on UMD and didn't provide an upgrade path other than forcing people to re-buy games in the didn't keep their old PSP. So far it has been a relatively unsuccessful attempt to revitalize the PSP brand...
I love my PSP. I hope Sony doesn't stop supporting it. But that's not to say I wouldn't be up for buying a new Sony handheld if one were to be released.
This article isn't about gaming. But in case you haven't noticed Sony isn't exactly leading that market at the moment, either. While the issues that you cite with Microsoft and the Xbox 360 have been valid, using such ad hominem attacks doesn't invalidate that Sony's electronics business has been struggling for the last few years.
Actually in the areas you mention Sony has fallen behind. Sony shot themselves in the foot with the whole proprietary AAC format for music when MP3 players were the big thing. Apple saw where Sony dropped the ball and offered a comprehensive online marketplace to buy music to support their proprietary format. Now, when people think of portable music players the first thing people think of is iPod. I don't see how you can argue with that.
For eBooks Amazon did something similar. K...
Wow, this is going to ruffle a lot of feathers just from the article's headline. I can see where Sony has lost the edge in some areas where they used to dominate. But I have to admit that Sony is willing to try something that nobody has ever tried before with throwing down the 3D gambit.
I guess we'll have to see how all of this works out.
In this topic, people bickering over minor graphical differences in an attempt to make their console of choice look better. Even though there isn't enough difference between the two to even argue over it.
Based on the video that was posted earlier it will probably be GT5. Something has to justify it taking so long for that game to be released.
As long as people have to buy special TV's and buy special glasses the adoption will be limited. It will be pretty cool to try, though. But not sure I'd tout it as the "Holy Grail".
A thread full of experts here. So much for waiting to see what happens before pronouncing failure. I guess we'll get the satisfaction of watching them all be wrong again, just like they are every time they start speaking about it being the end for everything Microsoft related.
Those complaints will come, and mostly from people who don't have the required equipment to play the game. You know, just like the people who made those complaints about Forza 3. "I can't tell from the pictures which game it is!" Bunch of experts if there ever was one.
But honestly, I'd be happy if it looked just like the first Mass Effect because that game looked fantastic. And there's not a single person who owns either a 360 or PS3 that can point fingers at anyone on...
First game I've really looked forward to in a while.
He definitely believes in a cohesive vision. I hope Sony's 3D bet pays off.
I seriously doubt there were three separate purchases to get a good one. If that were the case we'd be seeing as many DOA stories as RROD stories. These are things that people who want to spread FUD make up to cover their insecurities.
What?
I had the same experience that you did. MGS4 was my first Metal Gear Solid game and I was less than impressed. All of the BS "Power of Blu-ray, 50GB game!" stuff made it seem like this was going to be the gold standard of console games for some time to come. But really it was more of a movie with stealth action sequences between scenes, which was kind of a letdown. That game looks and plays beautifully, but I guess it wasn't my kind of game. Way overhyped if you ask me.

Hey, you can get two PS3's for the original price, too! Isn't it interesting how that works?
