I wonder what the monthly limit is in total download?
Also, it probably has a "user agreement" about them being allowed to "manage traffic".
At that price, is the bandwidth guaranteed or on best effort basis?
Does it require a FiOS-like install or is it using the same coax as TV?
Actually a good comparison with the future of cars. It's not a technology problem, it's an economic one.
I play a lot of JRPG and while Lost Odyssey is good, I would not recommend it for people that are new to that type of game, like you mention.
Modern JRPG are doing away with the painfully slow turn based and most recent top JRPG have been using hybrid and faster systems. Picking up Lost Odyssey as a first foray into JRPG is only going to let you know if you would have like JRPGs from 3 years ago (gameplay speaking, except for the graphics).
They are also missing Okami for the Wii, April 15th in the US.
Agreed. Definitely wait for sites like gamerankings and metacritic to have 10 reviews or more, than look at the average. Individual reviews nowadays are meaningless because of bias and hidden agenda.
@1.1 fiber optics do have theoretical limits but we are nowhere near them. Currently the limitations are due to electronics at each end and this may always be the case.
Having two thumbs hide half the screen while playing... looks about as much fun as going to see a movie with a taller person in the seat ahead of you.
I applaud the technical effort to make this happen. However as a gamer this doesn't appeal to me. I would only tolerate an interface like that for non-timed puzzle games.
Competition is good for the industry (as long as done ethically) and it is good for the consumers. It keeps the prices lower, it forces the vendors to offer better features and strive for better games.
One console = monopoly. Monopoly is the worst thing that can happen to us the consumers.
In my experience (I have been on both sides of those) such acquisitions only benefits the higher ups and short-term investors.
The higher-ups of the company selling out get big incentives and leave within 6 months to a year (depending on contract). The employees of the acquired company get let go and a few get offered some relocation package (or stay put package). Few people accept the relocation package and those that do end up not staying more than a year anyway once disillusio...
Geez, another one of those, let me cut and paste my other reply...
The Wii did not steal market away from the 360/PS3 market, it opened up a new one.
So now in simplistic terms there is two major gaming markets. As such, you need two different types of console to satisfy each market. So I don't see all the players making their next console to fight for the same one market and ignore the other.
What is death? Zero sales, discontinued products? Then the answer is no, it's not dead and most likely never will be.
The article provides the answers, in sales it represents about 1/20 of the gaming market. It's small but it's there.
I guess it may seem like this in your region because Odin Sphere was just released but it's been out in the US since May 22nd 2007 (and even before that in Japan of course).
Persona 3 in the US came later (August 14th 2007) and the new FES version is coming out soon (April 22nd 2008) so I would say Persona 3 might be the latest great PS2 game.
That being said, if they port Yakuza 2 over to Europe\US, then that might be the next great PS2 game for us.
O...

I agree, that's why I own each console so I can play the best each has to offer.
The other side of the coin of the comment you pointed out is that not only do they miss out on great games but those single minded players end up playing less than average or even mediocre games because they are running out of games to play and then they feel the need to defend them.
Totally agree. The core Zelda fans will love Okami but the new legion of casual\mini-games players that bought the Wii will not have the patience to play an epic game like that.
I don't agree that the PS3 has been dethroned yet from the "best Blu-ray player to get" title.
It may happen later this year though with the DMP BD50 as a dedicated player. The reason being that then the PS3 won't be the only BD-Live enabled player anymore so it will loose that advantage.
For people wanting a Blu-ray player and a game console though, the PS3 will remain the best choice.
@2.1 It is a hostile takeover. That's why I used Empire\Rebellion Star Wars metaphore.
It is a valid to question whether or not the board of director will cave in to the pressure.
To continue the metaphore a hostile takeover is: "You will bow down and surrender to us or we will use the force of public shareholders to crush you and remove you forcefully from the board of directors and rip this company away from you."
I don't think they are related directly, more indirectly related as kindred spirits. MS and EA are both stale giants that need hostile takeovers to keep growing and reduce competition.
I agree that overall it will end up not benefiting us the users\customers.
Will Yahoo be able to resist the dark side?
Just like when Microsoft dropped Intel and went with IBM for their second gaming console.
