Buying a second copy for the lady friend so we can play around before the 2.0 update.

FFXI didn't have a massive community either but it's still moving along. Not every MMO needs 5 million+ subs to be considered a success.

Really good article and something I've been thinking about for quite a while now.

We need AI that actually thinks a bit, we need level design that actually allows for things like multiple points of attack or perhaps even the potential for reinforcements.

Nothing sucks you out of a world quicker then realizing all those enemies were just materializing out of a small tiny room and their main objective was: Run outside>>>Find cover>>>Start ...

@DragonKnight

Dynasty Warriors and the gameplay in DW doesn't equate to the precision and speed required in a Souls game. They are incredibly different games and I'm a little miffed you even attempted to discredit my point with it. Dynasty Warriors doesn't even require half of precision that either Souls title does, when you're doing nothing but simple combo's and attacking dudes who just stand there.

It's a fine idea sure, but when we...

I have a console for that, your argument is weak. Also, like Chak said it's really simple to get 4 controllers.

No one is saying drop your console and just game on a PC, it's the fact that you can get multiplat games for much cheaper and given how low the bar is for running multiplat games you can generally out do the consoles visually very easily.

Oh and when I'm sitting in front of my monitor it's really not like I'm losing out on not ha...

I've been playing shooters since 94 or so, in that time I've seen some amazing stories be told from the first person perspective.

I also really don't see a saturation in sports titles, 1 title for a sport every year is far from over saturated. It's also a genre I started playing in the early 90's, does this mean I'm not a real gamer?

I've played a large portion of FF, I played every platformer I could get my hands on, and I was al...

For someone who throws around the world "Fanboy" a lot you're awfully transparent.
Seriously, KZ2, GoW3 and Uncharted 3 are great games. If you think those were the best experiences you had this generation that's fine.

I had FUN playing Galaxy and NSMB, just like I had FUN playing Vanquish or Saints Row The Third. I had fun playing Kirby's Epic Yarn and I had fun playing Donkey Kong Country, the same way I enjoy Rayman Origins and LBP. They are a...

I never said that the PC wasn't involved with development. It's simply kinda ignorant to think that the 360 and PS3 games aren't coded and optimized specifically for those platforms. They don't just copy and paste the game and then start knocking down the resolution to get it to work.

Video Games will always be made on PC, but it doesn't mean that the native hardware that the software is intended for isn't involved.

Like reading your s...

Latency, Latency, latency.

You aren't going to find a game like Dark Souls online purely because of network limitations. An MMO entails potentially having hundreds of characters in the area, can you imagine the headache of keeping all of those fights feeling tight and responsive with players sticking around 100-300+ MS latency.

Your best closest bets right now are Guild Wars 2 and Tera, we aren't going to get a "Real time MMO" for a long whi...

Yep, especially in the cases of PS3 titles. The nature of that console by default puts to rest the notion that the console hardware has absolutely NOTHING to do with development.

Every female character in a Valve game.

Halo's female characters.

Samus.

Zelda.

Every Resident Evil female character.

Lots of characters in the Deus Ex series.

Assassins Creeds female characters.

The list can get pretty long, and showcases some decent "normal" proportioned women.

What I think everyone and the Neo Feminists seem to miss, is that...

For the last time UT3 was Maps, Character models and Game Modes. You weren't downloading full total conversions and running them which is what a REAL mod is.

One of my PS3's BR drives died as well (Only PS3 of 3 that I've had a issue with) I really disliked that I had to pay for the repair too, but it did come back a hell of a lot quicker then any of my 360's.

Moron Majority....sigh...

Seriously, we're a pretty niche group here. Lets not label everyone a moron for not understanding how the games industry works. We aren't the norm here.

Did you watch TV in the last gen? Yikes. PS2 ads had lots of different tail ends to them, highlighting that the title was available on the PS2. The original Xbox had some as well, it's pretty standard practice.

Agreed, it wasn't a terrible game.

Everybody really needs to look at ID Softwares track record for FPS games. ID games have always largely been about the technology, anyone remember what people were talking about pre Doom 3's release? It wasn't the story or the gameplay.

Rage was a huge departure from what ID is used to doing and overall it was better then a lot of FPS out there. I also purchased the console version first, I wanted to see what ID ...

Here is a summary:

PC and Consoles have different control inputs.

Being different, they require different implementations of menu's and UI. Some games are designed in a way that the controller may be more beneficial or a mouse and keyboard.

Here is a list of 5 games that you can loosely say one is probably better then the other.

There were lots of Grey/Brown games before this generation, I don't get why people are "lamenting" over todays games and the colour palette.

So many games come out nowadays you can easily eliminate "grey/brown" games with minimal effort and without sacrificing your genre choices.
