Xbox was also built to show off DirectX and to head off an Apple invasion of the living room. Sony likely gave them a bit of encouragement having been the first in a long line of 90's era failures to enter the industry. I'm sure Sega vacating a major spot probably helped with that too.

I get what you're saying buddy, and I do agree. I literally sighed a sigh of relief when the Kojima Productions logo pops up in The Phantom Pain. It's an amazing game and a testament to just how great Kojima is.
Where it gets hazy for me with the removal of Kojima Productions, Kojima's ousting and the other junk is....we have NO IDEA how Kojima is with the executive money people, we have no idea if he was spending the budget for the gam...

Because this community is awful and god forbid you see the enjoyable qualities of both series. Honestly, it's just getting sad. Like Flopza? Really? They're fun games and I really enjoy things like the customization and the multiplayer in Forza, while ALSO enjoying things like the mind numbing number of cars in Gran Turismo, the jazzy tracks in the menus and doing weird shit like getting a car wash or changing the oil.

If Konami's business plan has less and less to do with console gaming, that's just how it goes. Lords of Shadow 2 didn't do well, other than that and PES/MGS what have they released recently for home platforms? Revengeance? Ground Zeroes? Do we see a pattern?
