Having a proper Web browser isnt a killer feature either, Steam has a built in web browser, one that actually works. You can Shift + tab anytime to bring up the browser during game play.

Dam console gamers need to stop dreaming.
Any of you ever been close to a Mid to highend PC? with the amount of heat todays highend chips generate and the amount of power they need. Console makers would actually have to make cases the size of PCs to accomodate chips that generate that much heat. They would also have to give the same machines some real PSUs to feed all the power these chips would need.

I doubt it was the cost of the emulation engine. If a group of people can develop emulators for the PC to run almost every PS2 game out there, it shouldnt have been a issue for Sony.
It was either they wanted to sell HD remakes or PS3 on its own wasnt powerful enough to do emulation of PS2 games(without having any additional hardware).
Personally i think it was for both reasons.
Personally have an Nvidia card so will be enjoying Physx too this time around. Had an AMD when the last game roled out, too bad i didnt enjoy Physx at that time.

I belive if anyone is buying about 2 games a month, then paying all those extra royalties and prices to MS and Sony doesnt really make consoles a cheaper alternative.

SSDs will be simply too expensive, Bluray drive will never catch up with the speed of HDDs (which you already think are slow). currently even 100-200GB SSDs dont cost less then 150usd, thats about half the price of a console.
Please speak some sense. There is a reason why we have installs, having everything streaming for a bluray or DVD is just too slow.
First console isnt cheaper lets get that out of the way :) console games cost alot more then PC versions. Yes console hardware is cheaper by afew hundered usd however a single steam discount is more then able to turn that advantage around, later on everygame bought makes PC more cheaper.
Consoles need patches too and even firmware updates. In a case where the console maker or developer delays the patches console gamers are handicapped and cant do anything on their own. PC gam...
Sony as an organization has been making losses since the launch of the PS3. First the R&D expenses on the lol CELL.
R&D itself was known to wipe out any profits PS2 made.
Hardware losses for PS3 were in billions. They have yet to recover from those losses.

With Sony and MS still in the RED, Nintendo starting to make losses now, At this rate Steam is more profitable then any console maker. Execellent strategy let the gamer bare the cost of hardware depending on their budget, mean while Steam rakes in profits with software sales.

You do realise that the System Ram on PCs is not used for any graphical tasks. Its the Ram on the GPU thats used for graphical stuff.
A 4 year old GPU like 8800GTX which launched along with the PS3 has a memory bandwidth of around 90GB/s.
The Cell is much talked about for its graphics ability, now please realise the Cell must use XDR RAM for its graphics. XDR on the PS3 rated at about 25GB/s.

Well for PCs its different, a reason motivating us to buy Digital is because we get extremely cheap prices.
If consoles went mostly digital like PC, the prices would still remain high, because there would be nothing competeting XBL or PSN. Would just be 1 network per console. On PC we have so many platforms now Steam, D2D, Gog, Gamers gate, Origins and many others, all of that helps drive prices down.

ME isnt heavy at all niether on the CPU or the GPU. Any 3-4 yr old PC will run this maxed out. Just tell us what GPU u got?
