@henry

I agree with you that GTA4 was a pain in the ass registering to multiple places just to be able to play, that was Rockstars mess.

However look at what the modding community have done to that game today. It was already a gen ahead of the console versions when it launched, today its atleast 2 gens ahead.

There are many games on console too which dont work well. Just about every FPS (aside COD), takes dips down to 20-25fps. When a firmwar...

Dont they ever get bored retexturing the same game again and again?

Well Xbox 360 costs 300usd, then you need to pay 50usd for XBL, so thats already 350usd on the first year of purchase. You can get a PC for 500usd that will easily outperform the Xbox 360 multiple times.

Hence the difference is 150usd initially which isnt much at all. Then consider the crazy discounts we have on Steam or the day one games being cheaper. I would say PC is far cheaper then owning a console.

@henryford

Games work just as well on PC. Steam has made things so much easier, Its simply Install, click play, max all settings out.

Consoles themselves are a DRM, can you play PS2 games on the slim PS3? its the console hardware thats the DRM. Imagine all those games you bought on the PS3 this gen may not work with PS4. Hence you are either left with having multiple consoles hooked up all the time just so you can play your old games. Also if any of those fai...

I think thats a pretty solid build. You got everything covered.

I5 2500k or any I7 really are about equal in games, why because both of those chips are enough to keep the bottleneck at the GPU front at resolutions like 1920*1080.

GTX 560sli is a pretty solid GPU setup i think you are in for a real treat with this build.

Cant really compare a linear non destructive game like UC3 with a game like BF3 (specially the PC version), theres so much more happening in BF3.

Sure UC series has a good art design however the graphics are not realistic, BF3 graphics are focused toward realism which imo can be much more resource incentive.

BF3 has 64 players on screen vs uncharteds handful, The same 64 players can be doing so many things using Tanks, Jets, other vehicals.

Cant see how installing a game is an issue. Us PC gamers do it with every game and its great because it helps with loading times specially on the PC where storage mediums are so much faster then console.

I personally have a 10k rpm 300gb drive for all my game install. Upgrading that to a 250gb SSD pretty soon. Downloaded games which i am currently not playing are kept seperate on my 2tb back up drive.

Its actually majorly console gamers who are supporting COD.

On PC i think BC2 sold just as well as MW2. I would think BF3 on PC will probably outsell MW3. Its because PC gamers are a more adult bunch and they a higher percent of them knows whats happening in the industry. Where as in the console crowd a higher percentage are kids who will go ahead buy COD just because their friend is getting it.

@backedgoods

Agreed, however i dont think you would have constantly kept buying CSS if they released a rehash every year?

What keeps CSS fresh is the community.

They are going to be 60fps plus on PC. Unless you game on console.

@below

30fps is what they have to force upon you for most of the games, you dont really have a choice on those terms, so are you going to stop buying 95% of games on console?

Looks like a very limited choice to me.

PC version is 45usd on Steam so thats 15usd off. I would say thats awesome for the superior version ;-)

DX11 and eyefinity are an additional bonus.

Preordered on Steam.

Well mate thats the point, i think they want you to buy a new unit instead of getting the old one fixed. It probably makes more business sense for them since they are making profit on the hardware now, also it gives them bragging rights for how many consoles they have sold.

All of us know replacing a bluray drive would barely cost 30GBP:

Well maybe Sony has just kept the repairs expensive because they want to sell more hardware.

There are many things aside the ylod that can go wrong(which can be fixed with thermal paste as you say), however a Bluray drive failing or something on the motherboard failing cant be fixed with a DIY.

This is the thing i like about PC gaming. Anyone who is a bit techincal can easily repair whatever that went wrong. If a part goes bad it can even be purchased much ch...

@leshin

Here is a link to a 500usd PC it comes equipped with a 6850GPU.

http://www.tomshardware.com...

That GPU is atleast 3-4 times more powerful then the PS3.

250GBP = 400usd.

For a 100usd more you are getting a machine that will play batman AA in 1080p much better graphics then the PS3 and will run it in 60fps.

And paying more on every game bought all of a sudden seems fine to you i guess?

Buying hardware is a one time investment.

Buying games is what we do all the time.

MS and Sony tend to delude the customer into thinking they are getting a bargain by taking a loss on the hardware (which u will only buy once). Later on they rape you on the software (which u will be buying multiple times). See how that model works?

Its better to bu...

"Consoles will always have the advantage on price"

Thats where you are wrong mate. Why is it when you want a 300GBP PC your standards all of a sudden rise and you demand maxed out graphics. A 300GBP PC will easily be playing the game better then any console.

Now if you want even higher settings then you should pay for it. However in the long run cheaper games on PC easily make up for any additional hardware you do buy. Console gaming is easily more ...

Funny anyone would disagree with that. Even for a console gamer they better hope PC is well and healthy so when new consoles are needed PC tech can be passed down.

Also PC is an openplatform, it stands as a resistance toward MS and Sony. If MS and Sony were to ever think of raising prices, they would have to think twice as long as the PC is around.

PC also stands as last bastion of hope for the hardcore gamer who doesnt like games getting dumbed down to just ...
