Great attitude to have with games in general. :)
Love the positive degree of exposure N4G is promoting. It's an excellent idea and I can't wait to see where it goes from here!
I second this notion.
With dash of Mirror's Edge thrown in for good measure.
I'm gonna have to check it out at some point as well. Steam wishlist, here I come! :D
But then you might get sick of the goats! XD
Mirror's Edge mixed with Spider-man or Bionic Commando. :)
Haha awesome. +1 for the Cabose reference. ;D
Before Super Meat Boy, indies were relegated to being $1 time wasters in some poor section of Xbox Live. Steam, Kickstarter and now the PS4 and Wii U are treating indie games much more like retail and AAA games.
I can live with that. There are boss battles in SNES games that you cannot win. One of the earliest Mega Man X boss battles for example.
I agree. But I feel that to justify the concept of calling them a "video game" there should be a level of interactivity. This is where Gone Home succeeds where Dear Esther did not. Dear Esther didn't have the player do much of anything whereas Gone Home had you do something. You could analyze objects at your leisure and even if it was linear, the narrative would only really push forward if the player willed it. Dear Esther had nothing to find or discover aside from its ending.
Likewise! I've been playing an Elder Scrolls game and the large world is a little overwhelming. Every now and again I like a simple, linear game to play.
Agreed, the world is what starts the appeal of the game and sets the mood while the gameplay really seals the deal.
Thanks for the correction. :) Bubble up for being helpful.
Indeed. I like the sci-fi aesthetic they went with for this one. Very interesting looking premise.
"Why should people play A Story About My Uncle?"
"We believe that we've crafted an experience you can't get anywhere else. Except if you are secretly spiderman!"
Now that's what I want to hear. A game that can potentially out-Spider-man Activision's Spider-man games. :D
Likewise. Always refreshing to see an obscure indie game get a lot of positive attention.
Goat-s***... that's a new one. XD
Gotta love it when a dev approaches their interviews with humor. It makes them seem more human and relatable.
You'll get a notice in your tickets page if you do. :)
