And how is that relevant to the issue of pressuring minors to spend money on loot boxes?
If anything Free 2 Play games are more damaging there, simply for the fact that everyone has access to them.
Either you are morally against loot boxes as a concept or you are not. You can't pick and choose.
Well longevity and retention rate is statistically much better on MP games than they are on Sp games.
That is not true for everyone of course, but that is where the market is right now. This where the success of Call of Duty, Battlefield and Overwatch comes from.
People putting in hundreds of hours into the multiplayer mode. Yet successful single player games will have a hard time getting people to even finish the story mode.

The game is changing history though.
The concept is that Germany is being invaded by britain and you have to fight off the big bad empire. Whatever we know about german military practices at the time. It is out the window.
It wont. Star Wars has too much market recognition to fail at this point.
I also question peoples intentions when they say stuff like that. Why do you want it to fail so bad? Don't you want them to keep making Star Wars games? Do you want the people that work at DICE to loose their job? Why would you be so mean spirited?
I don't feel like the outrage ever will be accurate. It is a bit sad, but I guess it is human.
People just want stuff to be angry at it seems.
Darth Vader as a late game unlock makes more sense than any other thing being a late game unlock. He is the most iconic and beloved/feared character in the entire franchise. As an unlock he is the best incentive to play the game.
When the estimate is a dozen or so hours it is really not a lo...
To be fair. The gaming community's current outrage is far from objective.
Destiny 2 got hanged for it's microtransaction system. Yet it is one of the least offensive implementations of a system yet. In fact it serves the people playing without paying more than those that pays.
Shadow Of War got hanged out for it's microtransaction system. People claiming the end game grind was extended to incentivize purchases. Yet purchases had almost no effe...
Alternate history making Germans into the underdog good guys. Sounds fun enough. However, considering the deal being made about playing as germans here.
I was expecting something truely brave. Like playing as an actual nazi during world war 2. At the very least it would have the potential to create a much different dynamic. This changing of history just changes the names and languages. We are still stuck playing the de facto "good guys".
That is kind of my point though. Pay 2 win has largely died out already. Because the model can not support long term play, effectively killing a property's potential revenue.
I don't know if I would personally be able to hunt cute animals, but I do realize that it's an irrational stance.
Hunting is by far the more humane way to keep, kill and eat animals than any other.
If you are under the belief that everyone should be vegan that is one thing, but the only logical argument for that is to conserve the envoirement and limit polution. Not to protect animals.
You do realize that if everyone was to beco...
It is ultimately a pointless patent. It would only be effective in a pay 2 win scenario. I know people around here like to rail against any form of microtransactions, but the effect proposed here would when purchases actually makes an impact on gameplay.
Considering the short life of real pay 2 win games this patent would ultimately not work in Activisions favor.
Considering the statistics we now have on the subject. Activision would probably make more m...
What has happened to EA. It's like they don't want to make money anymore. Do they not realize the selling power of the Star Wars franchise.
They could have released 5 shitty games since they got the exclusive rights and they would all have broken sales records.
Just look at the travesty that was "Star Wars: Battlefront".
If they wanted to make a Game as a service offering within the Star Wars Universe, that is fine. ...
I think its funny how filled with double morals the outraged part of the gaming community is.
It was not long ago that reviewers and gaming media was lynched for promoting a political agenda. Now they are being praised?
It is like no one remembers gamergate.
And stop kidding yourself. This is a political agenda.
This idea that a grind has become a negative Word in circles like the one in this comment field is baffling to me.
When did it become negative that developers designed incentives for us to play the game longer?
Don't you guys want developers to create engaging experiences that has the potential to give you as a consumer more bang for our buck?
Do you guys want 6 hour games with no incentive for continued play?
Do ...
But you can buy loot boxes with ingame currency as well.
I can almost guarantee you that my political views are more socialist than yours. I still disdain any action that is discriminatory or against the philosophy of free speech.
You need to look into the political spectrum. It is much more complicated than you think. In fact, you are one of the reasons us on the left is getting such a bad rep these days.
The conflict between the right and the left is related to economics, not personal freedom.
Political censorship has never been exclusive to "socialism". The political spectrum is much more complicated than you think.
Censorship is an authorative action. It relates to personal liberties, not economics.
This is not cutting ties. This is a way to single out an individual. In this very article they list Campo Santos open policy on streaming and lets plays.
They are saying:
"we have this open policy that applies to all, except this one person we do not like."
That is discrimination made in the attempt to censorship. I am sorry, but this is not the same as a company stopping trade with another company.
Campo santo is ...
They have an open policy on streaming and lets plays. They decide to single out a single person from that policy. That is straight up discrimination. When discrimination is made based on the fact that the individual have differing views it is straight up an attempt at censorship.
This is basic free speech stuff.
The issue is not however that Campo Santo is doing this, I am sure it wont matter in the least. The issue is the praise someone is getting for b...
Which is fine. It is not like Campo Santo has the power to do anything.
What I am talking about is the dangers of the attitude of the people in this comment field. Basically praising tyranny.
People can think this will somehow revolutionize international law. But it is doubtful. The current outrage is not nuanced enough to grasp the size of the situation.
If loot boxes in games such as Battlefront 2 becomes illegal. Then almost every trading card game and free 2 play game will instantly die. Perhaps a discussion need to be had about these things as well. However trading card games for instance have existed for decades.
People are so quick to...
