I don't really have an opinion either way. But your sitation supports his assertion, not yours.

What he is trying to explain to you is that first an third party has nothing to do with the IP and everything to do with the developer.

Generally speaking for a title to be considered first party it needs to be developed in house. When they make deal with third party developer to work on an ip they own it is Generally considered second party, but this is just a figure of speech.

There are way too many hurdles to overcome for Destiny to have a full fledged battle royale mode. There is just no support for that within the ecosystem of the game.

The design of power progression and loot progression would inherently go directly against that. However the biggest issue is that the engine clearly does not have the ability to support a map that would work within such a game mode.

It is always possible that they want to create a battle roy...

@gangsta_red and @Christopher

I don't recommend using the target lock in God of War (ps4) at all. Kratos has enough auto-target for it to be pretty much redundant. You have more control and oversight over your surroundings if you learn to play without it.

It works better in Souls-likes because they usually don't require you to have as much battlefield awareness, mostly because you usually fight fewer enemies at a time.

I don't agree with the premise. There is no untold rule that says violence in media needs to have a point. What does that even mean? What if the point of the violence is that it is pointless? I mean I can keep going.

I get that they are just trying to be clever. To make this interview into some kind of political commentary. It just doesn't work.

The implications of criticizing the level of content within artistic endavours will always be the fir...

@Septic I generally don't like the way you get treated in these comment sections. While I will often find myself disagreeing with your stance, you often try to use logic to argue your opinions. Which is something I personally commend.

Doing that however is kind of the practice Trooper is alluding to. To make a reasonable argument for a subjective stance, you still have to make an appeal to objectivity. Otherwise everything is purely subjective and therefore unrelatable...

So many people want to be in denial about the character of Kratos and how the events he went through colored him as a person.

Ever since the very first game. God of War has always been about complicated concepts of Family. Especially related to father figures.

It is great that this new God of War has opened the eyes to so many new people, but it is clear to some of us that many of you that claim Kratos used to be one dimensional, never knew him at all. ...

One could easily argue that the lack of competition Microsoft is presenting is one of the major factors in the criticism that people are giving them.

The point I am trying to make is that if people agree with your sentiment; that Sony needs some healthy competition to keep up the level of quality that they have been supplying this generation. Well then that is arguably an even better incentive to criticize Microsoft because it seems they are dropping the ball. As it stands ...

Why on earth are people under the misconception that Resident Evil 4 was the first third person shooter?

I am very confused.

This is a genre that has been around for ages.

Not to undermine the contribution of Resident Evil 4, but this is just getting silly. Resident Evil 4 was not a genre creating game.

Even the first Halo did more for the genre and that is not even in the same category.

Third and first party is an indication of ownership over the developer.

Death stranding cannot be first party if kojima is not.

Naughty Dog is first party because Sony owns the studio.

Sony Santa Monica Studios is first party because Sony owns the studio.

Insomniac is not first party as Sony does not own the studio.

The expression "Second Party" is usually used for projects where Sony o...

Sea of Thieves was always doomed to be a misunderstood game. Microsofts lack of big exclusives gave it much more focus than what it should have had, and probably more than rare wanted.

The game was always made more in the vein of sandbox than triple-A. Think ARK. However, even in that market it is lacking some very fundamental things.

The lack of any meaningful progression kills the game outright. Lack of content is one thing, but as long as you provide...

The problem I see with your argument is two-fold.

First off. It is made as a justification for criticising the game's change of venue. Which doesn't make any sense.

Because, while the typical power-progression of god of war can be seen as immersion breaking for the reasons you stated. The same can be said of both god of war 2 and 3. So I don't see how the setting is relevant.

Secondly. This is an issue in most games with s...

The issue that no one seems to think about is the potential repurcussions that this could have on future development of Microsoft's Operating Systems. As it stands Valve is one of the few actors in the market with enough pull to affect Windows development on the Policy side. As we have seen in the past.

Valve isn't all that great and steam has it's own share of issues, but at least the Industry has some push and pull because there is more than 1 giant in the mar...

Yea. No one is upset. People are just pointing out the similarities. Mostly because it is fun.

I don't know which is worse though. People that write articles like this, or the people that take articles like this at their word.

It doesn't really matter. The issue both face is that both games can't live up the the expectations.

Sea of Thieves, while potentially fun is not the pirate simulator some surely believe it to be. It is a novel game, potentially great yes, but still novel.

The same was true for No Man's Sky. Putting the quality of the game itself to the side. The main issue people had with the game was clearly that they had created unrealistic expectations be...

I don't think I agree that the gun play was bad per say. The issue with the combat in the game seemed more related to lack of interesting level design and enemy placement than anything.

The gunplay is very different though. Mostly because almost every weapon used physics based projectiles that are slower than what most people are used to.

I can see how that was a bit jarring, because it was to me as well. However once I realized that fact I got a new ...

The premise doesn't even make sense.

Even if all the Alien games to date had been terrible it would still not mean that the franchise had no potential.

Just look at what Rocksteady did with Arkham Asylum. Batman had not had a good game since the genesis days. Yet they pulled out not 1, but 3 near masterworks.

If someone had said. Batman games ain't working. Time for the franchise to die like Jason Todd. Then we would never have...

The fact that trading card games have a tangible value would only make it more akin to the traditional definition of gambling, not less.

The repercussions of something being in breach of a law. Things such as fines and scrapping production runs can be enough to kill even a successful company.

I agree that even if Belgium does find it to be in breach of their laws it wont affect international law, but that is kind of what I said.
