I think this was one of Microsofts best press conferences in years. They showed a lot of interesting games and some really cool announcements.

I quite enjoyed it.

The problem however is that it could have just as easily been a third party press conference. Almost everything that made take notice was multiplatform titles. Metro, Assassin's Creed: Origins and Anthem to name what stood the most out.

Scorpio or Xbox One X was as expec...

I think you are underestimating the fuel that is fanboy wars.

I honestly wish people would just stop talking about it. It is flooding this site with non content articles and opinion pieces. Where are the gaming news. E3 is right around the corner.

First off I don't agree that these tiny similarities to warframe would be considered stealing. The games do not play like each other at all. I have spent hundreds of hours in both and they play more different that I originally thought they would.

However Warframe was out in beta form long before Destiny was even announced. The idea that warframe stole from Destiny has, at least to my knowledge, never been a thing. And if it was, it would have been silly.

To be perfectly honest. Vivendi, whom owned Blizzard bought Activision. Then decided to merge their names. Hence the name change to Activision Blizzard.

I am sad. I was hoping that the rumors were true. Especially after it was revealed that the film crew in Montana really was for Far Cry 5.

Religious cults and such are interesting for sure, but we have so many modern shooters. While it is so far between western shooters. Yea RDR 2 is not that far away, but we haven't really had any westerns since RDR 1.. I would have been able to live with 2 within a year.

To be fair I am on board, but even I would think twice if Destiny 2 also stopped after 3 years. The problem isn't that it isn't entertaining for the two first. It's that year 3 will always underdeliver because we know everything we do after the obligitaory story, strike and raid content will count for nothing.

Anyways I guess I am preaching to the Choir. Just saying I am on board for Destiny 2. I might be for Destiny 3 as well, if there is lack of enough good ti...

Problem is that Destiny is a game about loot progression. They are already alianating a lot of their core player with the release of Destiny 2. If Destiny 2 goes the same way and only lasts for 3 years people will loose a lot of faith in bungie.

The reason is that everytime Bungie decides to release a new game instead of an expansion it effectively kills the prior game. I am already wondering if Destiny 2 can be as successful as Destiny 1.

FPS goes a lot deeper than that. It can actually effect animation speed and bullet speed. It is true that all those things you mentioned give can give an advantage. However, that is not by design, in fact there are a ton of systems designed to eliminate as much of those advantages as possible. Designing a system that would inherently give a competitive edge to one set of players is a whole different beast.

The point isn't really that Destiny has a real competitive scen...

They would never design the game without a fps cap. This game heavily features competitive multiplayer. segmenting the playerbase into 60fps and 30 fps wouldn't make much sense, and they would have to do that because 60fps would give them a clear advantage.

What is up with this comments thread... Seriously guys when people call the game stupid because it has zombies arguing that they are not zombies is the worst argument ever. It is a zombie game, it doesn't matter what they are called or the technicallity behind how they became what they are.

Regardless if you see that or not the argument is beyond dense. It would be much more profitable to argue the value of the game than whether or not they are zombies.

I think people should stop making direct comparisons between linear and open world. They bring with them different challenges and potentially different rewards.

F. ex. how open World games have the potential to create emergent story and gameplay that is simply impossible for linear games.

On the flipside linear games have more control over the pacing and can script huge sequences without it feeling out of place.

Red Dead Redemption isn't entirely a Rockstar North game, It is a Rockstar San Diego game. They did make it with a lot of help from Rockstar North however, including Dan Houser on writing.

I don't think they will though. They wont force true 4k resolution on all titles anymore than neither MS nor Sony forced 1080p on any of their consoles.

People think the scorpio magically will make this happen. It comes down to games individual code and optimization. There might be more games supporting true 4k resolution on Scorpio, but we are likely to see it handled in the same way we are now seeing on the Pro. Some games are true 4k, mostly older games that have bi...

This has always been a mute discussion to me. While the artistic value of blockbuster titles can be discussed, the same can be said of movies, you cannot deny that something is art when every aspect of it's creation is considered art. Writing is considered art, Painting is considered art, Modelling is considered art, etc. etc. Even game design would be considered art by most people that understood the process.

While that in itself is a totally fine stance. It doesn't make that much sense. Warren Spector is designing it and he was the creator of the original System Shock. However I do understand that most people will know the series by System Shock 2, which was designed by Ken Levine.

I am not sure the change from tab target to reticle is enough to reinvigorate the combat system. By the trailer at least it pretty much looked like it plays very much like it did. It remains to be seen I guess. I really do think the secret world has the best story in any MMO I have played to date so I do hope they get enough success to keep it going. Not sure I am looking forward to playing it all again however.

Dude.. The point he is making is that the article assumes naval combat out of the screenshot. Which, considering the boat, is much more ludicrous than assuming nothing until proven otherwise.

Well especially if you bring ID Software classics like Doom into it. There was a lot more thought into the playability of level design in those days.

people keep thinking that a jump in resolution is some kind of amazing graphics magic button. Graphic technologies are a lot more complicated than that.

Now I am not saying a jump in resolution isn't good or great. I am just pointing out that people think it will somehow make everything look better in a way that is unprecedented.

The constant need for the big FPS franchises to shoehorn themselves into a themed trend shows how little the genre has progressed since it's inception.

I think it is sad, because I used to think it was one of the more progressive genres in gaming, and it still has a lot of potential.

However the jumping back and forth in time to create some kind of pseudo idea of progression is getting really old.
