I can read just fine. You make it out to seem like warframe makes MT optional despite being free to play. I am arguing that is not true. MTs in warframe are much more pay 2 win than most contemperary examples that get dragged through the mud.
Actually, most items in Warframe are deliberately made near i possible to get to ensure people spend money.
Some crucial items that are required for power progression are pretty much MT only.
I know, you can trade with other players for them, but just stop to think where they came from for someone to trade them?
I get it. Warframe is a lot of fun, but everyone that brings it up as a beacon of how to handle MTs are showing their hypocris...
No you clearly didn't look at the pictures. The 2d Backgrounds is exactly the textures that have been upscaled with the AI.
You can apply higher resolutions to a low poly model, it will look cleaner, but you can't magically create polygons where polygons don't exist.
What about that is hard to understand? low poly models benefit from higher resolutions in that they look cleaner, but low poly models will forever stay low poly models no matter...
Well considering what is being upscaled is the 2d background yes it will.
As it stands the 3d models, while crude, will still look better with higher resolutions, the 2d background however will not because higher quality background textures do not exist.
I would even argue that games such as FF7 that does use a painted 2d background has the most potential for these kind of upscales. Full 3d games will still be low polygons no matter how many fancy textur...
The main issue i see with a discless solution, is that you are no longer appealing to the moviephiles, though Sony kind of gave up that fight with the Pro.
Digital only is the future of the industry, no doubt about it. It is for movies as well, but digital only services for movies is still lagging behind physical media when it comes to quality.
I also dont think the lesson of the ps2 was lost on Sony. As 4k TVs become more and more common, bli-Ray might ...
Citation needed.
If anything. Your original post proves that does work. You say that there were a lot of comments from people that you don't usually see post comments on every story.
One can potentially question retention rates, but it doesn't change the fact that your aproach would have zero effect on that and therefore no matter how low of a percentage we are talking about, it is still more than what you suggest would be able to produce.
I really don't care as I never participate in contests, but it seems such an aproach would be working against one of the primary reasons to hold contests in the first place.
That being to drum up interest and entice people to register and/or be active.
You also have to consider that just as people actively posting here is the vocal minority of the gaming community as a whole, they are also the vocal minority of users on this site.

People acting like grinding in a loot grinder is bad baffles me
"I specifically addressed a point you made. What is straw man in that? YOu said GaaS games are dominating in sales, but they aren't. "
Well you didn't. You made the claim that other single player games are also selling well. That does not dispute my point, nor does it address the point I made. Nor did I make any point that would indicate I believed those single player games to sell badly.
"GaaS is not innovation, it's marketing ...
I get what you are saying, but I am not arguing that single player games is dead. So it feels a bit like you are making a straw man out of my point.
GaaS are very much a big part of the market. And it is not only a few games. We have to consider games like GTA 5, Call of Duty, Battlefield and Overwatch within these models. On Pc we had League of Legends, Dota 2 and Smite.
Even Counter-Strike would now be considered a GaaS. The Sandbox Survival wave that w...
David Jaffe is just as entitled to his opinion as anyone on here. And he makes some decent enough points.
The knee-jerk reaction to anything GaaS that has become the trend on this site or others is also not a reflection of the market as a whole, where GaaS games are still dominating in sales.
We can not like it, but trying to pretend like these games aren't being made for an audience is just ignorant at this point.
I agree, not eve...
I really wish people would stop acting like reusing assets is some sort of crime when it comes to game development. All games does this. And it is perfectly natural. As long as workable assets exist with the quality that the developers want/need there is no need to make new assets. It would be very redundant and only add to the cost of video games as a whole. Asset creation being the most intensive part of video game development.
I haven't played Atlas and I am not sur...
No you are missing my original point.
It is being put forth as something exclusive to games or microtransactions. Any medium that features said moves and makes money would still be part of the equation. Which means any movie, tv show, stand up show, theatre production to have used any of these movies to make would be liable under such logic.
I didn't really make an argument for increased exposure as an excuse for epic to make money, but rather tried ...
Really? The same would be true for anything that featured the same type of movements. Movies, plays, commercials, etc. etc.
People think Epic is make hand and fist with dances, but are ignoring the economic reality of how sales work.
The consequence of such a lawsuit succeeding would either mean that all video games would remove any and all references to dance in their game. And/or prices would increase by a tenfold. Either way, the only one such a laws...
Quite a misleading title. There exists no legal precedent for what these people are trying to do. These are not copyrighted things and therefore are not protected under copyright law. They are by todays legal standard not illegal in any way.
They would first have to be able to apply a copyright before asking for compensation for someone using their copyright. This is all backwards and seems like typical bottom feeder tactics.
However, if they were able t...
Well the article goes a little deeper than that. Any console, generation or player would benefit from a masterpiece. The article talks more about games that challenge the shallow trend we are seeing in mainstream games.
Not to mention that she was not the director, but the producer. She was chosen as the face of the product, but it was Patrice Desilet that was the creative force behind the product.
That is not to say that good producers arent important when making a game, but her role is misrepresented all the time.
I am sorry, but both the author and a majority of people commenting seem to be ignoring the Question being asked.
Spider-man has no sandbox elements. It is effectively a theme park game.
I mean the arguments and conclusions being made seems entirely irrelevant to the topic of conversation bein proposed.
Which has the more enjoyable movement mechanics? How is that related to which is the better sandbox?
Spider-man w...
Rdr 2 is amazing and I doubt there will be a game that can hold my attention for this amount of time again, at least in a while.
Still my personal Game of the Year is God of War. It is the most cohesive and polished experience i think we have seen yet. And it is, in my opinion, an experience that not only defines this generation, but arguebly what will be or needs to be strived for in the generation to come.
Well deserved Sony Santa Monica and well deser...
@meteorpanda that is what we call moving the goalposts.
First you clam they can't upgrade the 2d backgrounds when that is exactly what they are doing. Then you claim 3d models can get upscaled or can't get upscaled. Your wording here is ambigious.
When i clarify what you can and can't do by upscaling a 3d model you come back with this left field idea that developers can redo the models through some sort of program.
Not to mention the ...
