So media should never show anything that might be uncomfortable?
Art is supposed to be a reflection of reality. You want to censor people's ability to tell stories about things that might make some people uncomfortable.
That is effectively saying all media has to be propaganda and we should not have free speech. I am sure you don't actually believe that. But you should really take a harder look at the shallow argument you are presenting.
You are clearly an ignorrant individual filled with prejudice.
I agree that common sense arguments are poor. You were the one that made one on bad facts.
You cant make a common sense argument that states something that is not supported by reality. As that would clearly not be common sense, but ignorrance.
The main problem with this narrative is that it is factually untrue. Since the birth of video games the world has gotten progressively less violent, not more. So how can you justify this as common sense..
The common sense argument would be, if video games did not exist there would be more violence. Because that, at the very least, follows reality.
@Hardiman
So now you are just going to pretend like your comments were not filled with vitriolic rhetoric that belittles anyone that does not agree with you?
Like calling something that is enjoyed by millions of people "shit". Or how you insinusted that your "veteran" status made you conditioned to not spend money on something akin to a scam.
Come on, your stance is hardly a sign of a reflected opinion. Nor someone t...

People posting comments on sites like these will always be the loud minority. So that means absolutely nothing.
There is no push to make GaaS the standard, but there is a push to make GaaS titles, because the make a lot of money. Case in point. They make a lot of money, because they are very popular. Which means there are a lot of people that enjoy those kinds of experiences. Not because they are better or worse than the experiences you and I e...
Yes lets all pretend your preference is law and stop making games other people prefer..
Like seriously. Every game does not have to appeal to your preferences. GaaS-focused games appeal to lots of people that would never touch most of those games. And they have been around for a long time too. Because those games are designed to create very different experiences.
Stop pretending like you are somehow magically the arbiter of good taste. There is no such ...
The funny thing is that Gangsta is so rarely reasonable.. Yet he is the reasonable one here.
You both are just hung up on hyperbole, which is what Gangsta always gets accused of. When he brings a neutral argument like he is doing here, you guys all ignore it as hyperbole.
I don't know. I value arguments because they are sound, not because of the person that brings them.
The main issue I see with it is that when you look at downgrades like those that happened on The division and The Witcher 3. First off they were minor, but they were also the most impressive games visually when they launched. That being despite the downgrades.
Anthem doesn't look bad, but it does look worse than other open world titles that have tried to impress. F. ex. the recent Red Dead Redemption 2 or even titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn. In fact, my initial impr...
@atanasrikard citing someone elses opinion is not an objectively grounded argument though.
I can f. Ex. Say that i find the gameplay boring because i don't like the shooting mechanics. That would be an opinion.
But I could also say that the shooting mechanics are lacking in visceral feedback compared to most compareative titles. I. E. Most Guns shoot like laser pellet Guns and enemies are only in game lifebars.
The mission design an...
Everything is opinion when one talks about potential fun of any activity as it is 100% subjective..
The question is: Can you, or anyone really, that thinks the game is fun come up with an objective argument as to why you subjectively find it fun?
Because I have yet to find one, and I can come up with several objectively based arguments that supports my subjective opinion. Mostly down to how the game mechanicly plays. Now that doesn't change the fact ...

While it is true that many people get tricked by fancy trailers and marketing. Those people are not necessarily the majority when it comes to GaaS. There are just too many examples of extremely succesful examples for that to be the case.
Not to mention that the gamers they appeal to very often have very different preferences when it comes to genres. A huge portion of gamers only play multiplayer games, that have been true for a while. What the GaaS...
@Sprinterboy
Good luck with what exactly? Not denying reality?
Hahahaha. I have such a hard time believing this to be true.
If you have the funds to get such an expensive gaming set up. Then you have the funds to get a godly gaming computer, that would do 4k graphics on that 82" screen much better than any console can.
Clearly. You don't care about how much money you spend on your entertainment system.
Secondly to claim to be playing games on both the console and the PC, but somehow you ...
The cause you are getting behind is that there should not be anymore looter-shooters or GaaS titles. You then go on to call out GaaS. Everything that follows is nothing but subjective musings about what you percieve GaaS to be. That being unfinished games etc. Ignoring that many of these GaaS games have been hugely successful and has provided much more content per dollar than most competing models.
However, none of musings are objectively true. And it is objectively true t...
That is an extremely superficial way of looking at it..
All F2P games need a certian amount of people that are willing to pay for the content to fund the game. Pretending othewise is simply ignorant of reality.
While ignoring the millions of gamers that those games appeal to?
And yea there are millions of gamers that want multiplayer focused games with persistent progression and a steady flow of new content. Pretending otherwise is simply ignorant and self centered.
I don't know. i love Amy's work and I think the traditional aproach to storytelling has it's place in video games for sure.
But I can just as easily say that the focus on traditional storytelling is stopping games from evolving storytelling to actually make use of what makes storytelling within an interactive medium unique. That being exactly player agency and emergent gameplay.
I don't think this has to be an either or aproach, but in m...
I agree with most of that. Just not that warframe is any exception. It is just as predatory as the rest.
I dont even understand why people think its not. So much of warframes end game progression is effectively locked behind a paywall. People are ignorant to it because they can trade for everything, not realizing their progression is funded by whales.
You literally said we had to draw a line because someone could feel uncomfortable.
Using that logic we would also have to draw a line infront of any media that would f. ex. address Child abuse. Say commercials for charities or movies that are made specifically to shine a light on problems in our society.
I get it, that was not the point you thought you were making, but it is the logic you presented. And that logic is anti free speech and dangerous. Just...
