Or haven't you read? They're gaming division is still losing money up until this very moment. They cannot afford a price cut and right now instead of worrying about winning the console war, Sony's gaming division has to focus on surviving. Thusly, they have to find the niche market for their high priced console that plays blu-ray movies and accept a 3rd place finish once Microsoft starts dropping their prices.
These loses are for their WHOLE gaming division and are figuring in all their consoles: psp and ps2 right along with PS3. so basically any money they are making off the psp or ps2 is getting eaten up by their loss leader, the PS3.
Sony's big mistakes--
1)underestimating xbox live.
2)putting too much stock in the blu-ray and selling it at below cost. High definition is over-rated. you can barely tell the difference enough to spend gobs more money on new discs, hard...
don't worry. MGS4 is their first good exclusive game since the PS3 launched so expect to hear about it for the rest of 2008. Maybe in 2009, also, depending how the cookie crumbles.
You do know GTA4 sold twice as many units on the 360? Do you really believe Rockstar is saying, "golly gee, GTA4 sold 2 to 1 on the xbox 360. we sure as hell aren't going to develop for the 360 anymore. We like to sell less copies of a game on a console that took us almost a year longer to develop for!"
It's more like, "Um, Sony, you know those exclusive games we were working on for the PS3? Yeah, well, they're multi-platform now, mmkay."

you should have sold at mid 50's. the ps3 is going to get hammered this holiday season by both the Wii and 360. Sony cannot compete in the price war that is about to ensue. they screwed up by putting a below cost blu-ray player in their gaming console. Microsoft will be dropping the price of the 360 by $50-$100 dollars.

people were singing the praises of vgchartz left and right when it was good news for MGS4/PS3 sales last week. Now, it's bad news and the Sony defense force are all back to their anti-vgchartz rhetoric.
It takes a lot nowadays for an FPS to be a AAA title because so much has been done and redone in the genre. After playing Counterstrike: Source, Halo, Gears of War, and COD4 multiplayer I am very jaded to the genre. Even a good FPS still bores me because I've already played great ones to death. It's really hard to break into the genre.
how many articles get approved where someone gives their negative opinion on RROD or the xbox 360? a review of a game is an opinion. nowhere in the rules does it say an article cannot state an opinion. you guys are the biggest crybabies around.
